Weather alert halts recording on DVR

I've discovered one of the reasons my DVR (6412) stops recording in the middle of a show. I was recording something today and watching another channel when Comcast interrupted everything with one of their "severe weather alert" messages. After the alert, I noticed the recording light was no longer on. Sure enough, the DVR had ceased recording when the alert came in. For the past week we've had several "alerts" due to thunderstorms. At this rate, having this DVR in Atlanta for the summer will be a futile endeavor because there will be an alert almost every day, so no recording will be complete.

I'm becoming more and more disillusioned with Comcast and this thing they call a DVR. Thankfully, my old VCR can still record, it'll be much more reliable.

The way the emergency broadcast system works with cable boxes cause this. I had a EBS test during a DVR recording. It stopped the recording and after the test was complete (about 2 minutes) it then started a new recording and completed the recording. This was set up as a series recording and that may make a difference

I've seen that too. If you look at the description window in "My DVR" for each recorded segment it tells you the recording was interrupted and some information may be lost.

I guess I should stock up on blank VHS tapes, then. Man, this "dvr" from Comcast royally sucks, a complete waste of money and time.
