I feel cheated. Lame Surfing habits?

So I have a Linksys router.

I surf with the best of them. (I thought.) I mean.. I have prOn like anyone else! I go to see weird stuff. Surf like the Kahuna of Bytola.

I keep scanning my system. A2. Adaware SE, Spybot, AVG free, but nothing!

Never more than a lost cookie!

Am I a lamer? Or am, I just well protected. I'm paranoid about NOT being infected. What is going on?

Does anyone feel "left out" like I do at times?

What are you saying?
That you are upset by the fact that you have a clean system and can't seem to get infected?!?

What I'm saying that I may have a faulty system that is not detecting anything at all. I should have "some" items found every now and then?

Well believe it or not, there are a few legit porn sites that will not infect your system. Maybe those are the ones you visit?

What browser do you use?

What custom settings have you made on your router?

Maybe you know more about securing your PC than you give yourself credit for.

You must be visiting some "friendly" porn sites to be receiving nothing... Or... you have sufficient protection from any nasties that porn sites try to FORCE down your throat, just be visiting them.

My only advice is to stay away from porn sites. But judging by your avatar hehehe... this I'm sure won't be possible. I'm sure there are many unidentified pieces of code out there that can silently install and replicate on your system that evade detection. (stealth/cloaking)

Yeah, we seem to be getting as many posts from folks that grouse about not pickin' up any malware as those who have infected systems! Sheesh....has the tide turned??? (BTW, I don't think so!!)

Edit: Another BTW: Keep browsing any and all prOn sites, zetan and you'll get your wish!!! Good luck! :p:)

Lol
On a more serious note with sp2 its become much more difficult to get infected through ie. And if you use a moz based browser its just as hard maybe harder to get something. With the rumors flying around about how msas will funtion in ie 7.0 and the like spyware could take a monsterous hit.
Maybe the IE tight integration could end up being a good thing after all. I mean msas tied tightly to the browser maybe as a proxy like set up where it filters all downloads and web pages (who knows how it will work) and sence ie is tied to the os so tightly then it only makes sence that the protection from such a system would be very very high.

Hey were talking abot computers here so any thing is possible after all.

I don't know, man. I visit tons of crazy sites (mostly in Firefox, but in IE and other browsers too) and never have a problem. No special protection either.

Thats like having un-safe sex with a complete stranger, and then going to the doctor for an aids test, and a pregnancy test. That is assuming that you at least scan that no special protection PC with an updated AV, and spyware scanner after surfing.

I usually get my malware fix by fixing my family members computers.

"Why did you click yes? I always tell you to click no"

-"It was in the way, I just wanted it to go away and it keeps on popping back up if you click no."

I run Adaware (OH NOS THEY SUCK) every once and awhile (if I remember). Always fine.

Don't trip zetan. I go places and do things online that most here won't... worst thing I get is cookies and they are deleted when I close my browser. I do *NOT* use FF! Opera mostly, but also SlimBrowser(IE based).

I do see avast on this machine, Kaspersky on the other, snag attempts all the time. Nothing ever makes it in.
MSAS throws up the occasional flag too, but my weekly scans are boring. I DO know where to "find" the drivebys if anyone wants a few.

Life is good, albeit kind of drab.

My apologies to everyone else for the thread hijack, but I'm a sucker for beautiful Siberian Huskies!

HEHE. "Porn sites try to FORCE down your throat," that is dirty.

I did a fresh install of windows xp sp1. And did everything i could to infect myself. P2P downloading lots of exe files, and went to gambling, porn, warez, and song lyrics sites. And I put internet in "low" security setting. And even clicked OK to anything that popped up.

It was surprisingly easy to clean up. I just uninstalled everything I could through control panel. Then ran all the anti- spyware/virus/trojan applications. Then all the infections were removed. Disappointingly easy.

The router is a Linksys BFSR41. Standard job.

I run Zone Alarm free, AVG 7 Free, Adaware SE, Spybot, A2, the hpHostfile I found here and add to it as needed.

I use Firefox - what else? And I approve each and every cookie, and I allow only a scarce few, like CNN, and Amazon, and the like. Adblock extension added.

That's all I can think of off hand. The prOn sites I visit I had been for years with no cookies allowed, and pop ups blocked by Firefox. And I rarely stray to others, btu sometimes. And it's not a Sport for me by any means. Just a small part.

Any advice to add to this armor would be appreciated. I had not found a nasty in well over a year or two. So I'm sceptical. Are people posting these browser hijacks and infections that careless? Or am I too careful?
