Anyone got a Dual Tuner HD DVR box yet?

I had called and talked to someone at the beginning of march who said they would have them in by the end of the month and to call back then. But I've tried calling a couple times now and the people I talked to had no clue what I was talking about.

Any signs of them yet?

I was told in Dec that the new boxes would be available in the first few months of '05. Like you, I recently (last Friday)called Insight and they had no idea when the new boxes would be available. They are probably waiting to get the most out of the current HD boxes, which don't work right on th e lower analog channels.

I received the below message today from a Karen Stokes at Insight.

"Thank you for your sales inquiry. We do not have any updates on when the
dual tuners will become available in the Louisville area. Rest assured, we
will keep our HD customers posted as further details develop. We appreciate
your patience."

I'm having enough trouble getting a regular HD DVR box from my insight... they said they are out of them for 2 weeks.

We're getting ready to turn on our CableTV service again very soon - it's been off (just hi-speed) for awhile now, with my partner being laid off. We still have the old-er Motorola 2224 model cable box - no HD - I'm hopin' they'll update our equipment - maybe I should wait til the DVR's are available (???) What do you guys think?

I have had the single tuner DVR box for a year now. while it is "ok" the new boxes will be well worth the wait, especially if all channels go Digital.

The new boxes will still not be "all" digital it will just have a dual tuner, so you can record one thing while watching something else.

according to information in this forum (I forget where the post is) the "analog" channels i.e. 2-80 will be going digital if you are an Insight Digital subscriber. there will be no more conversion from analog to digital in the new box. If I am wrong Iggy please correct me. I will search for the topic dealing with this...

you are wrong, the new dvr's will not be all digital, they are the same as the current boxes, they just have a dual tuner.

I was told that they are supposed to be working on a way to broadcast the analog channels in digi format so it will be another way to correct the problem with the current box. This would be a fix so people that have the dvr now wouldn't have to switch boxes if they don't want to.

That one has nothing to do with me. lol. The source of the information in that thread has posted above. I'll say that in the past they have had a good track record in regards to the information they have provided here. Yes I'm aware we tend not to always see eye to eye on things. But the information given is normally pretty solid. Personally I don't watch to many of the lower non digital channels. So it doesn't bother me as much as others. But even on my low end tv - I can see a difference.

A dual tuner box would be more than welcome in my home. So the sooner they start releasing them the better.

ok, yeah I see where I was wrong now. it would be better if the analog wasn't "digitized" causing all the blur. Hopefully the new box will alleviate some of these problems.
