 moving to insight territory

i know this is more of a general cable question but since i'm moving soon to insight territory, i thought i'd ask the question here. The apartment that i'll be moving into offers a "closed-circuit" tv system through dishnetwork, which i wouldn't mind, but I want cable for high speed internet. When checking the address on insight's webpage, they say they can provide me with cable and internet services (i do see the cable lines along the road next to the apartment), but the apartment says the cable lines are not hooked up to their facility.

My question is: is it up to the apartment complex to decide whether to hook up cable to the facility or up to the tenant/cable company? I assume the landlord has final say, but just want to make sure.

In general, it's up to the apartment complex. But, if you reall want it, they'll probably let you have it hooked up (unless they want to force you to pay for their service).
On a side note, if you want to do anything with a web/email server, or apparently anything with bittorrent, you're better off going for the DSL in terms of internet service. And then, if you can get Speakeasy.net residential service from where you'll be living, it's a pretty great service.

Most the time with those types of apartment complexes they have a contract with the dish company and they will not let you have another cable service except the ones they offer, as it would be a violation of the contract.

Normally when an apartment complex is in "bed" with the cable company or in this case a satellite company, your stuck getting whatever they offer.

I know when I lived in an Insight area (my aparmtent complex) would not allow the "overbuld competition" to service me because they had an "esclusive" contract with insight and they also threw a fit when people wanted to put up dishes too!

I dunno why, but it sounds like you are moving to Bloomington, Indiana. From what I have been told, a large owner of apartment buildings removed Insight from their buildings for reasons unknown to me. But if they have Dish, chances are that they dont have Insight.
