[FireFox] multiple tab loading keeps timing out

Just finished reloading FF1.02, blew away Mozilla dir in Appl dir so I got a fresh install.

Did so because Im having an issue with multiple tabs timing out when doing initial load. Also had problem with version 1.0. Mozilla browser 1.7.6 does it too.

Im loading 7 tabs on startup (and 2 addl blank ones)

here are URLs in order of tab loading:
my.yahoo.com/p/d.html|my.msn.com/?page=1&refresh=-XXXXXX|
www.blogger.com/home|pctoday.com/default.asp?guid=XXXXXX|
refdesk.com/|about:blank|about:blank]

(I took out personalized info, subbed them with XXXX, and also removed all the http's)

I get timeouts in dslreports, msn, pctoday, and refdesk. Tabs all try to load but timeout with "cannot locate " Mostly get timeouts in msn, dslr, and refdesk.

Im not hijacked, my hosts file is fine. My speed is normal for dsl, Im tweeked according to the dslr web page tests.

And the dreaded IE works fine (but I still wont use it!!!)

Suggestions? Or is it just too much for the connection? Almost seems that way - too much data requested for pipe to handle, but Ive got a 3008/384 sbc dsl line, and its testing normal.

Edit: added results of Mozila Browser in text also

Re: [FireFox] multiple tab loading keeps timing ou

fixed it...its the sbc dns servers.

I changed my dns server selections on my router to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1 (I think that these are verizons dns servers), and voila! all is better.

No Smoke? Then it's gotta be either a glitch in the Software, or the way that you have it configured!

An even better solution - and a more correct one - is to run your own DNS instead of using Level3's DNS. I and many others on dslreports.com including SBC/Comcast/OOL subscribers etc are using Treewalk DNS:

»ntcanuck.com/

Download Treewalk Hawk, click on the executable and let it install - No options to be chosen - very straight forward - and then reboot and you are good to go. Nothing else to be done. Works with NT, Win2k and XP.

How are you opening multiple tabs on startup? Do you just have what you posted as your homepage or are you using an extension?

Try using TBE. Set it to load the selected tab session in advanced startup. I have TBE set to restore the last tab session but you wouldn't want that since you want the exact same tabs to open each time you start Fx. Even on Hawaii Road Runner's darkest day regarding DNS problems, all my tabs were restored when I started Fx that evening. That included this site. There were about 15 tabs to restore. None timed out. Still, I couldn't get to many sites (like Microsoft Technet and even Google). Our network broke down that evening and my ISP subsequently requested an emergency third DNS server from the RDC. So, I question that DNS problems are why your tabs are timing out on loading. If that is truly the case though, Treewalk evidently works really well. I have a friend on Verizon DSL who highly recommends it.
