Re: Reselling FIOS - when?

The other day I saw one of those rolling ad trucks in downtown Long Beach (CA) that said "Verizon FIOS available now", are there any indications when DSLX might make it available in this part of the world?

Thanks!

So looking forward to FIOS.. what's the status that it's going to be in CA? I know it's a long shot but it's going to be pretty much where ever verizon has it right?

DSLX only does SBC in NorCal I wish they did Verizon up here, too.

Re: Reselling FIOS - when?

We recently added a Verizon circuit in Northern California and now do have service in Verizon areas there. We can now service clients in local Verizon areas in the Bay Area including San Jose, Morgan Hills and Gilroy. You can check availability by going to »www.dslxtreme.com/dsl

so i'm in san francisco on major street (market) with the 1500-6000/384-608 plan on dslx through sbc, is there any value in moving over to the verizon fios/dslx circut? maybe they could offer better speed or naked dsl?

Re: Reselling FIOS - when?

Verizon FIOS will only be available in local Verizon areas. In SBC areas SBC is working on ADSL2+ as their possible next generation of broadband.

I think San Francisco is a SBC area, so you will have to wait, like some of us, for ADSL2.(This could take a while.)

I already have residential FIOS here in North Texas. Will you be handling my area any time soon?

Ok, thanks. I was interested in an account with you guys since the rumor was that you didn't block ports for a residential class account. I want to move a small website with a small number of hits off a web hosting provider and just do it and our email at my house.

I'll probably just go with the Verizon business account and do a one year deal.

Thanks for the info. If your plans change, or you think you might enter the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in the next few months with a service, please IM me.

Thanks again.

Do you know if anyone is reselling fios in the va area. Also, are you planning at reselling for less or more than vz sells fios?

SBC also has a fiber project (Project Lightspeed), but it doesn't seem to be moving along as fast as Verizon FIOS.

I understand that you can not give a spicific date however do you have information like how much it will be and which packages dslextreme will offer, also whether it is static IP or dynamic and I assume no port-blocking/normal dslextreme other than it is fiber?
--
Sprint ION = 4650/880 Adelphia = 3300/122, Charter Pipeline = 1540/100 man cable upload sux dont it? And man! my download/upload speed just keeps getting lower and lower doesnt it? Now: DSLExtreme 5400/540 (sustained) finally back up to a great connection

We will be offering the full complement of packages in both DHCP and Static formats. No port blocking. Pretty much the same packages we currently offer in DSL over fiber at fiber speeds.

I hope to have the pricing and packages ready in the next week or so. We're still waiting on Verizon to offer an automated pre-qual system for FIOS which is a necessity. The good news is that our OC12 is now up and running. We'll be able to easily handle the bandwidth needs of FIOS.

Re: Reselling FIOS - when?

I'm assuming everywhere Verizon can serve FIOS, DSL Extreme would be able to do the same.

See »Southern Cal Fios

quote:
By the end of this year, FiOS (FYE'-ose) will expand to parts of Ventura
County, and the service will be available to Verizon customers in 22 Southern
Californian cities. The majority of customers in Huntington Beach, Murrieta,
Sun City, Malibu and Beaumont can already experience the FiOS difference.
Verizon is delivering FiOS over its new fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP)
network, which it is already constructing in California and 13 other states --
50 percent of the states where the company offers landline phone service.

Fiber deployment is under way in Adelanto, Apple Valley, Bermuda Dunes,
Camarillo, Chino, Desert Hot Springs, Hermosa Beach, Indio, La Quinta, Chino
Hills, Ontario, Palm Springs, Perris, Lake Elsinore, Temecula, Redondo Beach
and Victorville. Some customers in these cities can already order FiOS.
Additional cities will be added next year, and Verizon will announce FiOS
Internet Service in these areas as it becomes available.

It looks like you got lucky in Redondo Beach

So of course, Panorama City is passed over. Of course. VZ is picking cherries. Huntington Beach. Malibu. Camarillo. La Quinta. Palm Springs. Temecula. I get it. Panorama, Pacoima, North Hills, we'll get FiOS precisely when Hell freezes over.

If any people need FTTP, we need it here in the East Valley. Our phone lines are crap here. Through some divine intervention my 1.25Mbps downlink speed is holding, but I'm sure that's pushing it hard.

They didn't luck out in Redondo Beach. Their demographics were better.

Re: Reselling FIOS - when?

HEh, well, I live in Chino and I can attest to it not being in the same league as places like Malibu or Huntington Beach. Chino is your average town with the usual range of good and bad neighborhoods - more bad than good.

The block I live on is made up of houses which are in excess of 40 years old, with all the problems you might imagine from a structure that old.

Verizon didn't seem to mind all that and went to great expense to equip the entire city with fiber optic line back in April.

I can also personally attest to Adelanto, Indio, Perris, and Lake Elsinore not fitting in with the same profile you're suggesting. Just be patient, Verizon will get to you eventually. California is a big place

Re: Reselling FIOS - when?

On their web site it show 39.95 for 5m/2m (only $10 more than what I pay for DSLEX 1.5m/375k DSL) I hope that DSLEX will come out with the same prices.... In any case its not available yet on my number ...

George any idea when it will be available in Redondo Beach ????

I hope to stay with DSLEX as I have had nothing but great service and of course I dont trust Verizons customer support.......

@apple.com

Are there any areas in CA where SBC and Verizon overlap?

I can understand them not competing for local-loop services like DSL but since fiber requires new infrastructure, does anyone know why they don't go more head-to-head?

Is there some non-compete collusion going on?

Cuz I'd rather than FiOS than what SBC is planning.

For What It's Worth, I frequently get SBC product offerings in the mail (I am near, but not in an SBC service area). I have called them more than once about getting their service and they consistently tell me that they can't go into VZ territory - apparently they can't take me off their mailing list either...
