| Re: Crazy Cobra(mustang) owner ripping up the road I've got a RC car that sounds like that [insert vomitting smiley face]. Sure its fast, but I'll take a '60s 427 any day over that.
You can give a four banger a ton of power if you throw enough money at it, but that doesn't make it desireable...at least not to me.

| Re: Crazy Cobra(mustang) owner ripping up the road.. I found the original post for this video somewhere, it has twin superchargers on it if I believe they said. Fast for a mustang, but not my style. Love the car, but it lacks other places, for example the interior, good way to spend money though -- Every time I look at myself I cant believe how awesome I am! | |

And really, watch those light poles, because guys have died pulling off donuts a little too close to one.
Did you even watch the video? Because, this wasn't even an empty road... this looked like a residential street, possibly next to a school (I saw plenty of other kids/cars in the parking lot he left), and with a semi conveniently parked cutting it down to a single lane, right where a broken axle or other driver/mechanical failure could easily send you smashing into it.
Add to that a cameraman standing next to the curb who is positioned perfectly to get mowed down if the driver steered away from the semi in case of said driver/mechanical error, and you get a driver I'm calling a dumbass.
Now, let's consider the fact that what he did was IIRC a class C misdemeanor and he could do a year in jail and pay something like a $10G fine for this, and the fact he videotaped it, and posted it to a public internet forum which can be traced back to his real identity. Probably can even read the license plate in the vid.
All this adds up to a nice car with a stupid driver, IMO. But I guess you disagree, and that's cool. -- "I'm downloading with a 56k modem. Can you give me step by step instructions on how to install x86 Solaris?? Please reply back. Thanks."

| The point was that if you throw enough money at ANY engine you can make it perform, I'm well aware that the car featured doesn't have a 4 cylinder engine, duh.
And no, I don't wish I had the money to do this, hence the vomitting smiley face. Not only because even if I did have money to blow I wouldn't waste it on this, but also because I already have a toy. And I'm perfectly happy with my '65 427 side-oiler. An engine that doesn't need several grand in aftermarket parts to make it perform. This is akin to rice burner type upgrades. Taking a car that was never meant to be a performance machine and forcing it to be so. And no, the late model Mustangs are not performance vehicles.
But to each his own. If it makes you happy, I'm happy for you. Just my opinion.

| Re: Crazy Cobra(mustang) owner ripping up the road ^ you bought a car thats already fast. no fun in that. just get in and drive and every 3k change the oil. and im sure that car cost more than that stang if your car is in good shape... -- MY Forum http://www.mainstreamtopics.com/forums | |

| Re: Crazy Cobra(mustang) owner ripping up the road.. wait, a 385 hp (to the wheels on most of the 03-04 cobra's), running mid 13's in stock trim is not a performance vehicle... huh sure sounds like it is in my book. upgraded pulleys and a chip should easily put those things into close to 500 hp to the flywheel. Just curious how is it NOT a performance vehicle? | |

Not true. I bought the engine, tore it down, rebuilt it stroked with a 428 cam and other various upgrades (with original/authentic parts), then put it in a car that I also assembled/built. Short of forming the body and forging the steel for the frame of course. So it just as much "fun".
As for the cost, it was cheaper for ME to buy than the Mustang, but would resale for twice as much as the Mustang. Not trying to play "my dad could beat up your dad", just pointing out some inaccuracies.
As for late model Mustangs not being performance vehicles, I'll let you discover why. Go research why the GT350 is a performance vehicle and the GT500 is not (relatively). Even though the GT500 put out more horsepower (assuming it had a 427 and not a 428). When you see the difference you will know what I'm talking about. Horsepower doesn't make a performance car.
