| Freedom Internet Security Issue
This is just a minor problem, but has me stumped. I figure I would ask here first as I don't want to bother tech support on something simple like this.
I have the Freedom Internet Security installed on my wife's computer (testing it out and really like it so far). I have the updates to be done automatically.
I leave our machines on 24/7. Now, when the automatic updates happen, a little pop-out box appears on the lower right corner - no problem. But, I have the monitor (21" Trinitron) set to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity. Almost every morning, the monitor is on for some reason. Last night, I caught it. The monitor was off (on standby), and I heard it "click" on. I quickly went over to it and caught the little pop-out just closing.
Now, the weird part. First off, why would the pop-out take the monitor out of standby? I've had Norton Internet Security on it before and this never happened with the pop-out. Now - even more weird, is the monitor will not go back to standby - stays on all night. If I just make one click with the mouse anywhere, the monitor goes off after the alloted 10 minutes.
This has been driving me nuts for the last couple weeks. I know I could just turn the monitor off at night, but I get obsessed when things like this happed and want to figure it out. Besides, I'm trying to save electricity whenever possible, and I bet this monster monitor takes quite a bit of juice.
Any ideas? |

| I have a Sony CDP-E440 19" monitor, and I have my PC and monitor set to go into sleep mode. And have freedom set for auto updates. It does not wake anything up,but when I bring it out of sleep,I sometimes see the freedom update pop-up,right after PC wakes.Maybe you have your NIC set to"wake on Lan".Check BIOS and NIC settings. -- Arris CM450a Cable Modem - Standard HSI |

Yeah, I know.....but turning the monitor off is the easy way out! |

No choice of what time it takes place. I could do it manually - too easy a solution I guess.
I'm on a mission to figure this out....... |
