I haven't been able to get the 4Mbps downstream that should be in effect over in Buffalo, NY. Could the reason be that my SB3100 is too old of a modem? The MAC Address is: 00:20:40:62:95:BA. The signal strength and etc are:
Downstream Value Frequency711000000 Hz Locked Signal to Noise Ratio37 dB QAM256 Network Access Control ObjectON Power Level0 dBmV The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested *. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading

(*) WARNING 1 long line(s) split And my speedtest results are:
2005-04-12 13:51:49 EST: 2866 / 414 Your download speed : 2935491 bps, or 2866 kbps. A 358.3 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 424153 bps, or 414 kbps. I have also tried some tweaks found on speedguide.net which were to edit my /etc/sysctl.conf with:
net.core.rmem_default = 256960 net.core.rmem_max = 256960 net.core.wmem_default = 256960 net.core.wmem_max = 256960 net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 0 net.ipv4.tcp_sack =1 net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 1 which seemed to help. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks |

| Speeds look fine. If your area has upgraded to DOCSIS 2 then you might want to consider buying a DOCSIS 2 modem like a Motorola SB5100 or the Linksys BEFCMU10. You can ask Adelphia if they have upgraded modems in your area if your on the lease plan. |
