| [E-mail] reboot to get new mail (outlook and comcast)
Been reading this site and there is some good information here. Hopefully you can help me out with a problem.
I have XP running Outlook 97. Using Comcast cable.
Over the last month, my email will stop receiving new messages at any given time. I will reboot and all the messages that have been held up come in. I never loose internet connection during this time. It has come to me having to reboot at least 2 times a day (home computer not on it alot) just to get all my mail.
Any thoughts? Need more information?
Thanks in advance. |

I have no issues with Outlook and Comcast.

Where do you find the "send/receive" setting? Sorry, I am a novice.
I do see a "server Time Out" setting. Mine is set to Short, 30 seconds. Could that be a problem?
Thanks for your help |

In Outlook look (I have Outlook 2002/XP, but 97 is similar I belive)under 'Tools', 'Send/Receive Settings', 'Define Send/Receive Groups'. Look down near the bottom at the section entitled 'When Outlook is Online'. Make sure the 3 boxes are checked, and set the time intervl to 2 or 3 minutes.
See the attached screen shot for a better idea.
