| reply to IGGY Re: ZoneAlarm - False Positive
Hey, Iggy!!!!
Good to see you!
And an update: I got a copy of the email my vendor sent to ZA, so they ARE in touch.
The funny part was that the vendor included a copy of the file he sent ZoneLabs too . . . and of course, ZA popped right up on my screen again:D
I'm not only a user, but also a beta-tester for this product and it was the latest build I was trying to download, so at that point, it wasn't too much of a disaster, but it turns out that the vendor uses the Nullsoft Installer on the release CDs too, and some end users with CA antivirus programs got the same message.
THAT spurred the vendor on. Hopefully, ZoneLabs/CA will react in a similar fashion!

2 edits | reply to spooler0 Nope I'm here. Just not enough hours in the day to get post done. But if you check my post stats - I'm still active. Just not as much as I'd like to be.
"but I also know that ZA does NOT monitor the forum."
They monitor their forum. It may not seem like it. But I know of at least two employees who post in the official forum on a fairly regular basis.
It would seem that I jumped into this one a bit late. I see from my quick glance further down. That contact has been made and hopefully the issue is being looked into.
I think we have other Team Z members who still lurk here. I'm surprised one of them didn't jump in.
For the record the blog is only part of what I do with my day. But it has become a big part of things lately. The blog also links back to a lot of threads in this forum. So I'm lurking about - just not posting as much as I'd prefer.
Hopefully the issue posted here won't sit on the back burner. I kind of feel the FlashFXP issue is sitting there now. The FlashFXP makers blame ZoneLabs and ZoneLabs seems to not be able to reproduce the problem. Similar results have been seen in regards to speed issues some users have reported.
I'd think ZoneLabs would have to consult with Computer Associates on this current situation. Since they provide the antivirus and definitions for the suite. -- Test Your Security

1 edit | reply to boblandy boblandy,
FF DOES refresh, but you can lose the data you entered.
However, I DID get through because I got a message from ZA support saying he'd like to confirm it by downloading and installing my software program or if I could provide a link to a trial version.
I can't because this is a very expensive and unique program, protected by a dongle. I was, however, able to put ZA and the vendor in touch, so I'm hoping they work it out . . . ASAP!
Thanks again for all your help. What you did was perfect:)

I was telling you I did it based on what you said!!!
Forgot to say thank you, and I apologize for that. No real excuse but I'm trying to get a horrendous job with a tight deadline finished AND be able to update the software!

I did that. But since at the bottom of the form, it said that Firefox users should refresh before submitting (which, of course, won't work), I'm not sure I got through [sigh]

| reply to Lizz by following the Instant Support route, you will eventually be able to select...
"None of the items in the list is my problem"
you'll then see...
"I am sorry, but I don't know what to suggest"
and a hyperlink...
"Click here to email Technical Support"
if you want to just cut to the chase, here is the Technical Support link

| I'm using ZASS 5.5.062.011 with the latest virus definitions. When trying to download an update file from a site that uses the Nullsoft installer, I get a notification of a virus: win32.sillyD1.LL.
I've been told by the software vendor that this is a false positive that was addressed by both Symantec and McAfee way back in August of '04. And a "google" search indicates this is true.
1. Is there a way to verify that it's a false positive? And if so . . . 2. How can I notify ZA (or CA)?
Thanks!
