Re: Which is Better ?

I use MS Anti Spyware and Spybot. They are both good programs. One will catch what the other doesn't.

I would agree with Mevanchik and even then they may not find everything. As a result I would also recommend using spywareblaster, spywareguard and finally something like WinPatrol.

Recently I had scanned my system with NAV 5.0, Spybot and Ad Aware (unfortunately I cant use MS' product - WIN98 here) all fully updated and they did not find anything. Then about 30 minutes later up pops WinPatrol to say Incredimail is trying to write to my start up menu. Now I don't know if incredimail is spyware, but I do know I have no idea how it got on my system, I know I did not want it and it was a right bugger to get rid of (requiring a regedit).

To be honest, im my experiences, i actually had to use 3. Microsoft anti spyware, spybot and adaware. Finally all spyware was gone. Without all 3 it would not have happened. I would also suggest xp service pack 2, its anti spyware itself. Also demote your user writes and make an admin account when u really want to install things. This way if spyware comes in, it wont have permission

According to Eric's tests MS Antispyware (Giant) is the best. They are both free, so why not use both? In case you are having doubts which one to use.

They are both free. Use both.

MSAS, as tested by Eric Howes, has better detection rate.

MSAS is currently in Beta testing. And its use is only supported for Windows XP.

Use both.

My data suggests a layered approach is best. Why not use both for on demand scanning.
