Using various anti-spyware applications have proved to be useful on systems these days. Each vendor isn't "perfect" with spotting out the system malware, etc. - but having multiple applications work on your system are much better than just using one.
Also, consider the fact that a specific application can point out [example:] 42 harmless processes/folders/files, then, run another application, and it may find maybe one or two harmful processes. Now, then, you can make a final judgement call to run multiple scans from different vendor products. The quantity doesn't always stand out.
