do i need to buy the kit? I'm not planning on using any of their email services.

Just using the high speed connection for surfing.

@learnquest.ca		 theres a kit now?!?!?!??! no.... but u have to buy/rent a modem and wait 1-2 weeks for them to set up the connection.
p.s. u have to use their connection software....its alot easier on xp then on other Os's though

You need a CD license key in order to connect without their software. Just go to the 3Web help website and look at the connection info for routers.

 What's this talk of a kit and special key login? DO they not use PPPoE?

I'd like some information, but getting it from their customer service/tech support staff is probably less than honest.

Are modem rentals mandatory? My Sympatico modem has NEVER been plugged in, yet I pay $10 a month.
