huge mistake...

this will kill the DSL market they have in Manhattan. Many folks I know who could not get DSL on there old crappy unmaintained phone lines used the DSL outside their window via the hotspots...

Anybody can see this was done based on profit margin dreams and had nothing to do with actual customer needs.
