Just tried to signup for the new speeds

Just called to signup for the new speeds. I called the 1-800-996-2516 and they knew nothing about it. The dude gave me a number that he said had all the newest offers:1-800-831-8078 this person also knew nothing about the new speeds. And/or my line was not good enough for it.

I think he just said that to get rid of me, he first just said I had the highest speeds they offer. Anyone had any sucess getting signed up for the new speeds?

Someone got the date/day mixed up. It says from Qwest, 5/3/05, that promotions will start. People in this forum say Monday, Monday, blah blah. Yes, it's Monday, although, it's only May 2nd. We have to wait until tomorrow.

ONE person called Qwest (for no apparent reason since it wasn't close to being available yet), and said the rep told him it could be ordered Monday. They likely had their dates confused.

Every piece of information posted has said it's not available till tomorrow, May 3rd. Call tomorrow.

I called (800-244-1111) just now and asked about it. I spoke to a gentleman who was very helpful. I was informed that there's nothing in the system yet (he couldn't even tell if my line qualified for the new speeds since they don't even show up) since the plans aren't active, but everything should be ready to go tomorrow. If all goes well, he said he'd check out my line tomorrow and activate it at the higher speed if it does qualify and if there's not a price difference, and call me back either way.

Oh, and he did mention the possible existence of a 7mbit tier (apparently his home line qualifies for it), but there's no way of knowing for sure until tomorrow.

what's cool about the DSL Premier will be that all 3 speed upgrades (3,5 and 7meg) will be one price. The loop qual tool will determine what speed you should be able to acheive and the DSLAM will be provisioned at that rate.

Though I wouldn't have minded if there was a separate 3 meg plan for $5 more, instead of $10 more for 3/5/7.

Yeah I agree. I hate being in this area with only qwest to choose from. I see verizon offering 3meg dsl for only 29.99 or something like that. I thought they could at least have offered a free upgrade to 3meg for the 1.5 customers.

I called too and they couldn't help me until tomorroo. Arrrgh, I wish the 3meg upgrade was free from the 1.5 speed.

Heh, no go on this end. They looked it up and it only showed 1.5mbps as the rate available. They did say to try to call back later in case its just some sort of system problem, but being on an RT I'm not that surprised.

I just got my upgrade in also...up to 5MB goes active on the 10th....I had to switch from my local ISP though to Qwest.net cuz my local couldnt handle the upgrade, same price so that wasnt a problem.

Funny thing is that I called 1-800-831-8078 and they told me I had the best available already (1.5/896). Hung up and called tech support (1-800-247-7285) he told me I qualified for the 5 and transferred me to customer service who hooked me right up.

This change was listed in the link. It flew under my radar screen until now:

"Qwest is also changing the "Up Stream Connection Speed" for Qwest Choice DSL Deluxe from 1 Mpbs to 896 kbps."

Crap, who's brilliant idea was that?
