| reply to acadiel Re: [News] Insight Columbus e-mails about running
I also found a few more subnets that resolve that aren't in ARIN's list:
12.202.0.1 to 12.202.128.0 (portions are Insight, portions are MediaCom) 12.203.0.1 to 12.203.255.255 12.210.0.1 to 12.210.0.255
So, here's what I have blocked (I don't like being probed, I'm blocking just to avoid any crap. My Sonicwall can block very explicit ranges, ports, etc.)
23 Deny All Default 12.24.233.64 - 12.24.233.191 (WAN) * 2 Deny All Default 12.147.60.192 - 12.147.60.255 (WAN) * 26 Deny All Default 12.202.0.0 - 12.203.255.255 (WAN) * 28 Deny All Default 12.210.0.0 - 12.210.255.255 (WAN) * 27 Deny All Default 12.220.0.0 - 12.223.255.255 (WAN) * 25 Deny All Default 208.246.95.128 - 208.246.95.159 (WAN) * 24 Deny All Default 216.217.24.128 - 216.217.24.159 (WAN) *
If anyone finds any other ranges (like the 203, the extra part of 202, and 210), add it on to this list. |

| I sent a note off to my friend at Insight asking him what was going on.... if I hear back, I'll post a reply.
Basically, I asked him why Insight was going after people having services set up for "personal (one person) use" and not for "others" like the AUP states.
TSG needs to go after the warez/movie traders and the people that are truly violating the TOS and not simple people that might have remote access/diagnostic solutions set up on their network.
Who knows what might happen if they start scanning for VNC servers, SSH, etc. I know quite a few people that run those for troubleshooting relatives' machines. |
