I'm personally not saying they are dirt cheap. But you can get a good wireless router and card for less than you'll pay for an XBox or Playstation.
Installation and setup of these items has become easier as well. Although you can in fact run into dead spots or connection issues do to signal strength. I think with many of the new routers this has become less of a problem.
