Would fill flash have helped much? This is a 300mm lens so chances are he is a fair distance away. Would need to be a pretty powerful flash.

Are these crops or resized originals?

Ya, I dont know much about flashes. I was actually pretty close when I took these shots. Probably about 10-12 feet away. Most of these shots are just resized. A couple of the finch shots are cropped.
