Up-to-date list of providers that have BYOD ?

If you have a provider, or know of a provider who offers a BYOD plan, please post it Also note if they lock your device, and what you pay each month.

I use BYOD with Broadvoice & MyPhoneCompany.
- Neither lock the TA.
- Both are on $9.99/month plan.

A fairly complete comparison between VOIP providers can be found at:
»voxilla.com/compare/compare.php
which works great *if* you know which providers you're interested in.

Unforuntately, one can't select by features, only by list of providers to compare. Nonetheless BYOD is one of the features reported on there.

If you find any errors/typos/additional info etc, I know they'll appreciate your comments and correction.

HTH,
- Don

My thought exactly, in response to the BroadVoice meltdown. Please let us know what you find.

VoicePulse (Connect and Open Access plans only, not regular lines)
BroadVoice
StanaPhone
MyPhoneCompany
iConnectHere
Teliax
Mutualphone (outbound only)
Voipex

None of these lock equipment. (NOTE: I believe that with BroadVoice you must specify "generic SIP" instead of your actual device to avoid them locking equipment, at least if you have a Sipura device.)

There are other providers that are geared toward Asterisk/IAX users rather than single-line users with SIP devices that I didn't mention.

I specified SPA 2000 when I signed up with BV, and they did not lock my device. Well....they gave me the credentials needed to unlock it

isepic in the Voxilla forum mentions »https://www.innervoip.com/ . They look as if they may be a BYOD service, but so far as I can see, the web site doesn't say one way or the other.

It sure seems like most of these companies hide their BYOD plans. I give up afterwhile....the info should be right out front.

Actually BYOD should be the default. If you need hardware, during signup they should present you the choice to buy one.

I agree completely, however When it comes to "what should be", we're going to get into a very long disappointing list. I don't think that many of the VOIP (if any at all) really worry about what "should be" nor do they really care; despite all the marketting lies, it's really "take it or leave it".

When it comes to doing biz with any of them, the buyer should do their homework first and get fully informed, it's definitely Caveat Emptor.

Just a rant,
- Don

I just ordered Telasip after having it up to here with Broadvoice. Should get the goods in a day or so. Amateurish web site but the price is good. If it doesn't work, I'm out $15.00. I can afford the gamble. I'll advise here how it works.

Telasip had good prices, but the website scared me away. I'd like to know how the service is.

So far I have not been able to find a replacement for my $9.99/month unlimited in-state Broadvoice line .......
