| reply to montano Re: Up-to-date list of providers that have BYOD ?
I signed up with Telasip. Definitely a small operation but the service is very good.
Setup takes a few days from the time that you order.
You configure your own device to use their service. There is no provisioning from them.
A nice feature is that you can get a second line activated on the same DID for free.
$15 for unlimited domestic with no other fees is a good deal IMHO.
One downside is that LNP cost $25 per line. |

| reply to montano said by montano :Still waiting to hear about telasip ? I still don't have a DID but since I had a SPA3k, I was able to provision it for outbound within minutes of getting my credentials emailed to me about 1 week ago. I set myself up for g.711 (they have a couple others too) and have been very impressed with call quality. About the same as BV's excellent call quality. I pretty much have left all of my other SPA3k settings the same as I had had for BV. It was easy.
It's a little weird for my call recipients not having a number show up on their CID. In an email exchange with Telasip from today, I was told that I should have my DID very shortly, perhaps tomorrow. I might not be your average VoIP user in that I have no intention of cancelling my POTS line. I just brought my POTS charges down substantially by simply reducing my service down to what they call 'measured service' - inbound calls are still free; outbound is charged. It's less than $10/month. So you can see why I'm not too terribly concerned about when I get my DID.
Bottom line so far: call quality is excellent, rates are low, long distance is free. I'm happy. |

All of the plans are BYOD. You can buy a device from the site if you don't have one. |

I have no idea what the $10.00 is for. Talk to one of their sales reps listed on the 'contacts' page. I wasn't charged any more than the listed $14.95.
I had to email them to find out their available ACs because their web site is so unprofessional. They need a real web site designer. But when they emailed me back the list of available ACs and exchanges, I was floored. There were more available than *any* of the other providers for my area (MN). I still haven't received my DID even though it's been over a week. Fortunately, what I mainly want it for is outbound which works terrific. |

| reply to montano I signed up yesterday with Telasip. $15 paypal made me feel better than $15 on my CC. I signed up only after I called and spoke with someone. He was very helpful and looked up my area code. They use Level 3, so they should have good coverage across the US.
The unique thing, as mentioned before, is ALL of their plans are BYOD. And for $15/month for the Unlimited, it was worth a shot. I mean I gave MyPhoneCompany a shot and they have turned out to be the best provider by far for me. But their BYOD plan is limited to 500 minutes.
I have yet to receive my sip credentials, and probably won't until Monday. Which is no big deal since I'm out of town for the weekend anyways. I will let everyone know how it works out, once I get them up and running. |

Is there a log in portal for this company? What happens when you need support, no one seems to pick up for anything. |

| reply to montano Today is my second day with Telasip. So far so good. But that is to be expected with G711
I thought MyPhoneCompany was a no frills outfit, but Telasip takes the cake ! However, I have had nothing but excellent call quality with both providers. MPC is going on 1 month with flawless service. Both providers use Level 3. For $15/month unlimited to US, I'm really hoping Telasip continues to work well. |

| said by montano :For $15/month unlimited to US, I'm really hoping Telasip continues to work well. Looks like an interesting company. I do wish their site had more detailed information: features (with details on how they function), LNP, LD rates (their "rates" page is blank!), their definition of "local calling," etc. Plus, they have a lot of nerve charging $115 for an SPA-2000!
Still, I love to see more companies coming onto the scene with BYOD. I also get the impression that you're allowed to use multiple devices on the same line, which is great. The $15 could be an awesome value, but their offerings are a little vague at this point. Keep us posted! |

| reply to montano Agreed. The only reason I even tried them was it was only $15 and they take paypal I did call and talk to them, and I feel comfortable enough messing with my SPA 2000 that I wasn't concerned with details. I still say they have the worst website I have ever visited ! |

| I finally decided to give them a shot. I got through to someone Gene and spoke with him. They were focused more with business customers and just recently started working with residential customers. Their fee is $14.95 with no tax or regulatory fees as of now. A virtual number costs $1.95.
They emailed me my configs within the hour I believe.
I had no problem setting it up with my Sipura 3000 and was registered in no time and making calls. The only problem I am having is when I called someone they are telling me that I sound like a robot to them and the sound is not too clear to them. I can hear them just fine.
Did you all set it up in the Sipura any different? I had it set up where I did a factory reset and just plugged in their values. Broadvoice sounds better to my friends than this right now.
Could it be something with the codec used? I used g711u with both broadvoice and telasip.
I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks |

| reply to montano I also did a factory reset after VoicePulse took over my SPA 2000!! I have my SPA 2000 set with mostly default settings. My linksys WRT54GS has QoS turned on, and I have had no complaints of not being heard. I have G711 on both lines of my SPA 2000 also. |

| reply to montano According to their rather cryptic website, they offer name and number with incoming caller ID. In reality, does Telasip provide Caller ID with NAME?
Im always in constant pursuit of the elusive Caller ID with Name....

Thanks!
