checkk tomorrow to see if there are any other updates for your OS...apparently none are for xp, for a change  .

| I went ahead and successfully installed it, but nothing happened after the install. Was it suppose to run itself right after the download? |

When you run the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool from Windows Updates it runs a scan silently and exits. If you want to see the results of the scan it is a file called MRT.log located in the Windows\debug folder.

confusion | said by Libra: When you run the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool from Windows Updates it runs a scan silently and exits. has ANYONE who regularly runs security software (av, anti-spy, etc.) EVER seen anything picked up by this? as i said to fina (shows how much MY little advice is worth ) AFAIK there is no reason to install this is you run good security programs; i usually advise my noob friends not to unless they are not doing the other basic steps i usually force on them .
