| [Packet8] Ghost Calls/False Rings?
I've been using Packet-8 for a while now but just recently I've started getting false rings. The phone rings just once or maybe even just a half ring and then stops. The caller ID doesn't come through. It happens at random during the day and night. It also happens if you reset the DTA adapter and sometimes right after you hang-up the phone after a call. I've talked to tech support and all they'll say is that it is a problem on their end and they'll "fix it by the end of the day" Of course that was a week ago. This has been going on for over two weeks.
Anyone else have this problem? If I can't fix it soon I'll have to switch because I can't have my phone ringing in the middle of the night all the time. |

| I don't know if this will help or not. For the past two week, I noticed around 4:30PM - 6:30PM, my regular (not VoIP) phone rang and when I picked up the phone, there wasn't anyone, just dead. I hung up, the phone rang again and again in an interval of 5 to 15 minutes (I picked it up and the same thing happen, no one from the caller side). I don't have CID, so I can't tell who called. |

| reply to Pissed-at-packet-8 The past two days in the early evening we have gotten calls or a voice mail of people talking, but they seem to be talking to some else. Basically, it rings and we can listen in. Maybe P8 is switching to Party Lines? There was a stretch for a while where the same lady kept leaving voice mails for a friend, and asking her to call her back. I almost did just to see what number she was dialing. They just stopped, maybe she finally figured out what was up. The numbers showed on CID, so it wasn't just going to the wrong VM. |

| reply to Pissed-at-packet-8 Even if caller ID doesn't show up, you can still check the incoming call log in the DTA.
I haven't had anthing recently but some time back, a guy kept calling, like 3 or 4 times, thinking i was a travel agent and was persistent that I did not call him back regarding his purchase of tickets. He stopped calling and I never called him to tell him it was the wrong number. Perhaps he figured it out, or somehow was forwarded to my number.?? |

| Good idea I just checked and there is nothing in the call log except the real calls. The fakes ones aren't there.
I really think that the DTA is just messed up (generating a ring on the analog out when it shouldn't) but packet8 maintains it's a network issue but they can't seem to fix it. |

| I got this problem too !
»[Packet8] Phone ringing once
They were gonna send me a new DTA, but they finally sent me an email stating that the problem was fixed already.
Now, I had 3 phones hooked to the system on which 1 was a 900 Mhz Cordless phone. That one was getting the ghost ring, exactly the way you specify. I cannot tell you if its still having the same issue because i disabled the ringer, and I am now testing sunrocket.
Good luck! |
