05/12/2005: 11:00am PST: We are experiencing a partial network outage affecting both Packet8 residential and Virtual Office products. We are working to restore the service as soon as possible, we do apologize for the inconvenience.
I was just about to make a thread... lol -- Anything I say can and will be used against me in a court of law. Somewhere over the rainbow lies the valley with gigabit fiber. Dude, I got a Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW. |

| reply to hagerfoot No incoming, outgoing, forwarding or voicemail for over an hour. Interesting developement... I received a SunRocket gizmo about 2 weeks ago and had a series of problems that left the gizmo disconnected and unplugged since Friday. I re-connected and it is great. Can 2 VoIP's co exist on the same LAN? |

P8 is really starting to drive me nuts. Just when I thought things were getting better, they go right back to outages again.
Not to mention my ping times here in NY are 100+ ms becuase they have no local server.
It's about time for me to switch, I think. Any suggestions? Almost all of my calls are incoming. |

Yes, it's been down for me for an hour and I can't even get through to the PR person on her cell phone, so something is really wrong. I tried to forward calls to my other VoIP account at VoicePulse, but so far that's not workng either, so it's a pretty serious outage. |

Down for me too in NJ.
This has been happening a lot lately. And this also seems to be the way of these services. They work great for a short time, then mess up a lot. then work great, then fizzle... -- I know you're talking, but all I hear is Blah Blah Blah... |

What exactly happens when a network like this goes down? How come websites, like this one for example, don't suffer the same problems? Or how about my cable internet provider? Why is it VoIP, and more specifically P8 that goes down like this all the time? Honestly, it's maddening. I got this service to save money, but I end up having to use my POTS to make calls while P8 sits there like a lump, costing me money. |

| Sure they do, but if someone is on the problem, it's usually not 2+ hours, and it doesn't happen this often.
I just want to know what about P8 makes them so vulnerable to this, and what takes them so long to reset the system.
My POTS never goes out. My internet rarely goes out. What's going on? |

It's down in SC also.
This must be another example of why they raised their rates $1.50 per number [including virtual numbers] by way of a compliance cost ruse. And they did it without notification to their customers [they lie and say they sent email to all customers, but when challenged, can provide no evidence of having done so... and none of my mail server logs indicate any contact with their servers other than in conjunction with email about my trouble ticket.] Oh, and my trouble ticket has been open since January when they messed up call forwarding for folks that also have virtual numbers.
Packet8 has been quick to continue charging me for their non-working service [or lack thereof], but has been unable to resolve system problems. |
