Re: 2.53 on DLINK CANADA?

I don't know if this was in b66, but the wireless page now has only the options for security "WEP, WPA, WPA2"- and you can't choose AES or TKIP now. You have to pick WPA if you want TKIP, and WPA2 if you want AES.

Also, the really big fields for setting the WMM QoS crap are still gone.

Something weird... when I did crash recovery, it didn't erase my settings like it usually does...

Re: 2.53 on DLINK CANADA?

Installed and happy on a rev c.

Also installed the XP WPA2 hotfix along with the Atheros 4.0.0.167 driver only (no client or supplicant).

So far so good.

Also, Why there are v2.53B69 & v2.53B69........????????
Sorry Talon88, I do not get it. You mention two times the same firmware number. Can you clarify your point.

Thanks.

Note that this point and a lot of other points were not actual changes of 2.53 but of earlier releases (read the release notes for changes per release). So fellow eMule users: I wouldn't get your hopes up on finally getting Kad to work (stably) with this release.

Personally, I'm reluctant to install new firmware versions until a new version comes along that actually does something about this issue. Other than the Kad instability issue and some dropped packets, my 2.52b60 firmware is working fine and 100% stable. So the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" principle applies here to some extend...

solid, totally solid firmware so far.
Wired to wireless is very fast, I am not getting any paeDisconnects, and wireless throughout is top notch as well.

this f/w may be the silver lining for the di624!

Sorry to spoil your thrill guys, but im having the same "cant recive IP" problems as with the 2.52
I cant seem to find any solutions to this, other than turning encryption off - and I wont risk that

Therefore, back on 2.50, but wanting to go WPA2... any advice?

I gave it a shot and I'm pretty pleased with this one so far. I seem to get a stronger signal between my laptop and my di-624 compared to the build60 I was using before.

EDIT:
BTW I'm using Dynamic Turbo and WPA-PSK.

Will flash to new version of the firmware. Sad thing is that they had to remove static turbo.

Re: 2.53 on DLINK CANADA?

what exactly was static turbo?
Jellen

Static turbo means channel bonding is ALWAYS on, not only when there is alot of data bandwith needed.

Don't know why they remove that, its on all their boxes, 108mbps! only way to be able to achieve half of that is with static turbo...

Anyway, my computer is few rooms away and i get a 85% signal (says atheros) but when I turn dynamic turbo on and it switches to 108mpbs, speeds drop to few 100kb/sec instead of 2.5MB/sec when dynamic turbo is off.

Weird thing...

Re: 2.53 on DLINK CANADA?

Turbo has always done that for me. Turbo mode is just sucky, ever since I bought it, turning on turbo made it slow as hell. Probably because if you are able to, look at all the frames with errors being recieved :| Bad signal quality I guess.

Been running BT since I flashed it, still no reboots. I'm fairly happy now.

I can't run WPA2 because my craptop's internal wireless drivers are crap, and Windows Server 2003 hasn't had the update for it for wireless zero config to support WPA2. Back when they had the option for WPA + AES it worked, so I probably just need to wait for MS to issue a patch.

Oh well, I'm still happy. Running WPA PSK with zero stability problems. Maybe D-Link hired new firmware developers?

Re: 2.53 on DLINK CANADA?

Oh, I wish D-Link would allow us to enable and disable the SPI protection. The false positives are pretty annoying, for example on bittorrent I get quite a few entries in the DLink log that look like this:

May/19/2005 13:31:59 Ping of Death Detect 221.190.xxx.xx:33578 68.8.xx.xxx:7005 Packet Dropped

Yes, & you should try to find a clean Channel to
stop the reboot cause by interference.

there aren't any other wireless routers around here.
so i can't imagine what could cause the interference.

Oh crap.
I just upgraded.
And now it reboots every 10 seconds instead of every other hour.
What an upgrade =)
I'm gonna try and change channel . To see if that helps.

I upgraded mine and changing channels stopped the rebooting. I was at 11 and changed to 9. It's been stable for a couple of days now.

Stefan- sometimes upgrades do that to me too [roughly 20% chance- doesn't matter the version]

I would take off the antenna, let the router rest unplugged for about 5 minutes, plug it in, and do talon88's crash recovery to upgrade to 2.53.

I've decided to return this product.
I don't have the energy to keep up this troubleshooting all the time.
Thanks for all your help !
