Will flash to new version of the firmware. Sad thing is that they had to remove static turbo. |

@intergga.ch | what exactly was static turbo? |

| reply to Tsume Static turbo means channel bonding is ALWAYS on, not only when there is alot of data bandwith needed.
Don't know why they remove that, its on all their boxes, 108mbps! only way to be able to achieve half of that is with static turbo...
Anyway, my computer is few rooms away and i get a 85% signal (says atheros) but when I turn dynamic turbo on and it switches to 108mpbs, speeds drop to few 100kb/sec instead of 2.5MB/sec when dynamic turbo is off.

| Turbo has always done that for me. Turbo mode is just sucky, ever since I bought it, turning on turbo made it slow as hell. Probably because if you are able to, look at all the frames with errors being recieved :| Bad signal quality I guess.
Been running BT since I flashed it, still no reboots. I'm fairly happy now.
I can't run WPA2 because my craptop's internal wireless drivers are crap, and Windows Server 2003 hasn't had the update for it for wireless zero config to support WPA2. Back when they had the option for WPA + AES it worked, so I probably just need to wait for MS to issue a patch.
Oh well, I'm still happy. Running WPA PSK with zero stability problems. Maybe D-Link hired new firmware developers? |

| Oh, I wish D-Link would allow us to enable and disable the SPI protection. The false positives are pretty annoying, for example on bittorrent I get quite a few entries in the DLink log that look like this:
May/19/2005 13:31:59 Ping of Death Detect 221.190.xxx.xx:33578 68.8.xx.xxx:7005 Packet Dropped |

Yes, & you should try to find a clean Channel to stop the reboot cause by interference.

I would take off the antenna, let the router rest unplugged for about 5 minutes, plug it in, and do talon88's crash recovery to upgrade to 2.53. |

1 edit | reply to Tsume On my note of progress, I've had a chance to buy a Linksys WRT54GS v2 router at Staples to replace my everlasting DI-624 rev C1 router. Got it for inexpensive price (~$45 after rebate and coupons). I will now turn my attention towards Linksys WRT54GS. I can deal with slower wireless throughput, compromising a bit of additional stability and programmable features. I have yet to have the full time to play with my new router, but rest assured, it's performing very well with DD-WRT firmware.
Firmware 2.53 killed static turbo. Dynamic turbo kicks in long after a big transfer is going, probably like more than 10 seconds or so into the transfer, but the turbo cuts in and out. Perhaps the channel bonding was a great idea, but too much interference around channel 6. Firmware 2.53 did it for me, it put the final nail towards the DI-624 coffin.
Good luck folks. I'm jumping off of D-Link/Atheros stuff and onboard with Linksys/Broadcom. -- HQH

1 edit | reply to Tsume same thing here, i'm turning over to linksys...i'm fed up with reboots and other issues, d-link seriously lacks support on this product! i don't see any improvements over previous fw upgrades...
i'm sick of upgrading fw/resetting/configuring my router all the time just to get it work, i've been following possible fixes for a long time now but my patience has ended here |

| reply to Tsume I am a guinea pig. Did a Crash Recovery during the update process, and turned off the stuff I do not need. So far no resets as of the past 14mins.

| reply to strupie I have the DI-624 Rev C (One antenna) The best firmware version I can run is 2.28 I loaded the 2.53 and my Thinkpad would not connect after reboots and rebooting the D-Link. Put the 2.28 back, and presto works fine. If ain't broke don't fix it. |
