| reply to PeteSL Re: 2.53 on DLINK CANADA?
Went from 2.42 to 2,53 in hopes of less reboots using P2P apps.
2.53 and the lack of Static Turbo totally kills my wireless connection to my Xbox.
My FTP speeds are about 1/4 of what they were before.
I won't be spending any more money on D-Link products. |

Just testing new function of a BitTorrent Client that have Trackerless distribution Call "DHT Network" DHT is very close to KAD(emule?) & use many UDP connections.
I am now having many (40%) UDP connections, Before are mostly (98%) TCP connections. Over 800 Totaly Connections now.
No Reboot. Using V2.53, WPA-TKIP, Static DHCP!

| reply to Tsume There is something wrong with Time settings in 2.53b69. I do have Automatic (Automatic time update with pre-defined NTP servers or enter customized NTP) option selected and right time zone, but D-Link 624 C3 device time is always one hour behind. Even in manual mode (the greyed out time next to computer clock button) is one hour behind, but time in Windows is correct. Is anyone experiencing the same? |

Start Apr 1st week Ends Oct 5th week
I hope I got it right. Just took the dates from a website I can't remember. |

@sympatico.ca | reply to Tsume I've had good luck so far with it. What i've found has been killing my connection is "DNS Relay."
I disabled that feature, and now the router seems stable. |

Can you tell us how "DNS Relay" kill your connection?

@sympatico.ca
| reply to Tsume There are a couple of things that I did to stop the random rebooting (roughly 24 hours)
- Disable turbo of any kind on the wireless (I don't have Dlink cards on the client side, so it doesn't really matter in my case)
That didn't seem to do too much. Still crashed once every 24 hours or so, or at the very least the DHCP server crashed.
- Disable DNS relay.
That seemed to do the trick. I don't know how or why, but the DHCP worked perfectly (no client-side config changes)
Does anyone have a more scientific explanation?
Thanks |

Does anyone have a more scientific explanation? When DNS relay is on, DHCP sets the DNS address to match the Gateway address.
When DNS relay is off, DHCP sets the DNS addresses to match the DNS addresses configured on the WAN side of the router.
I have no idea why this would cause a reboot. I have seen frequent DNS failures with 2.53, DHCP Relay On, and my DI-624 C1. -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA |
