Baltimore, MD | How safe is Baltimore?
I am entering Johns Hopkins University this fall as a Master student. I have heard some stories about how bad the safety is in Baltimore. What do you think? (I found a place on Cresmont street, which is near a police station, but still....) |

Must of been written by someone who doesn't live in the county, me, I've noticed an increase in crime, Catonsville was at one time a very nice somewhat quiet little town, sometimes there is so much traffic on my street I cant get out of my driveway, so the city gets rid of the crime and shoves it down the throat of those of us in the county  all so the "numbers" look good for O'malley

Baltimore is a mix of small town and big city. More relaxed like a small town, but never forget it is a big city.
Stay alert, don't do dumb things like park your car with a laptop visible, and you should be fine

Yes bad things can happen, but common sense like locking doors and protecting valuables helps a lot.
There's a different neighborhood every few blocks, the character of which can change dramatically, so just be aware of where you are.
