said by Aym :Hopefully the other 2 ISP in my area won't start doing that. P2P will always be blocked, or, at the very least, severely throttled.
The problem is that applications like that take as much bandwidth as they can get. That kills the system for all the other users. -- A is A |

The newer technologies are very much more capable than simple "port blockers". These technologies are adaptive...and change as they need to to control the traffic. -- A is A |

You are the one that is responsible for the content that is being shared. If You are doing something illegal?, I guess You can go to confession on Sunday and clear Your conscience?:D . The battle with ISP's(Not just WISP's) and end users over PtP applications will never end. Port blockers are worthless these days, as some of the adaptive PtP applications will just move over to port 80, and then stuff really goes crazy. That doesn't happen on our network, as we use packet technology that "sees" (for lack of better terms) what type of data is using the network and it sees that the same IP's and ports are getting hit with the same data and strings. I am not our linux guru, I am just repeating what my Sys. Admin. has told me?. I guess we will see what happens in the long run? -- »www.wavecrazy.net Join WISPA today! »www.wispa.org/ |
