[VoicePulse] Choose your own number

VoicePulse now lets you choose your actual number when ordering, similar to Broadvoice.

I was actually able to sign up for a Open Access plan with a number one digit greater than my Home line.

Thanks,
I'm getting a bit tired of Broadvoice's problems, and have two lines with them. After reading this, I'm cutting down to one Broadvoice line (maybe just the $5.95 plan), and signed up for VoicePulse.
I got a number in my local area code ending in an even "thousand." Never saw one of those up for grabs, so I took it. I'll see how this service works.

Pretty cool.. wish they had that when I signed up. Would have picked my number ending in 5000.

Yes, cool.
Only thing not cool, is they're sending me a separate locked Sipura, so I probably can't use it with GetSipura. That will just have to remain on my now to be less used 2100, with FWD and my cheapo BYOD Broadvoice plan left on it. But no biggie. I still love your plug-in.

Anyway, I think this has been asked before, but has anybody ever been able to port out a VoicePulse issued phone number to another service? I think you're know where I'm getting at.

With a number like that, I hope that you can handle the telemarketers.

I hope www.donotcall.gov helps me there.

I use GetSipura on a locked 2000 with no problems.

It's VoicePulse -- no need to worry about telemarketers since they have Telemarketer Blocking.

One other thing not to worry about is a shortage of (212) New York City area code numbers. As of a couple of minutes ago, you can choose from 1,753 numbers from the pull-down menu.
In case you're wondering, I didn't sit here counting them all. I looked in the HTML source, highlighted the numbers in the pull-down menu choices, and then pasted them into Excel. I would have lost count otherwise.

My TA hasn't arrived for VoicePulse, but I called them up and they gave me the password to enter their web portal.
For virtual numbers, it looks like you can't pick your own phone number, just the area code and prefix. Once you get to that point, it states the charge and asks you to confirm. I decided not to confirm, because I wanted to choose a number. Anyone think this feature is coming too?

Guess What? I go back to their website and go into the new sign-up section, and it's back to the way it was before, where you cannot select a number, just an area code and prefix. Also, the $24.99 plan now says a one-year commitment, with the $25.99 plan now showing (it didn't show when you could pick a number).
What's up?

Forget what I said above, the page is back. You might as well bookmark the URL ( »https://orders.voicepulse.com/SelectPlanPage.aspx ), if they change their minds again.

I'm not sure it is the same now but when I was going to get a virtual number it was the same cost as an open access number. So I picked up an open access number and put it on Line2 of the SPA2000. Same price but an extra phone line plus another 200 minutes of LD.

I just checked. When I went to Upgrade Account --> Add an Additional Number, it told me the cost was $4.32 (plus a activation charge) before I backed out. The $4.32 is what's left of my current month for the $4.99 fee (Open Access is $9.99 a month).
This looks OK to me.

Looks like they also got rid of the one year commitment for the America Unlimited plan. Wonder if they will hold folks to the remainder of their existing contracts.

Looks like they upped it $10 a month for open access. My bill still shows $5, I think I'll ditch my open access if it goes to $10 a month, just not worth it to me at that point.

I too noticed that. But they still have the 1 year term metioned in a bunch of other places (FAQs, Knowledgebase). Wonder if they "really" removed the commitment or its just a typo on the plans page.

Today 6/17/05
There are now 1,712 (212) numbers left. It doesn't look like they added any new.
Over about 20 days, that is 41 numbers issued, or 2.05 numbers a day. At that rate, it will take VoicePulse 835 days (2.28 years) to use up all their (212) numbers.
