| Insight blocks website part deux Hi. I found this topic, and it has been closed for a while.
»Blocked sites.....
I have just moved to Lafayette, IN, with my ibook G4. I have used empornium for about a year and a half now, and never had problems with it. I get here, and I just keep getting a time out error. I'm not having any problems with any of the other BT sites I access, but I want to know why this site in particular is not coming up. The last post about this topic was in january, so any news? | |

1 edit | if you're having problems getting to a site it may not be that insight is neccesarily blocking it. It could be a DNS routin table issue.
The easiest way for you to see is to test it from the same machine you cannot access it from
- go to www.guardster.com and put in the site and try browsing it from there. Guardster is a proxy site that loads the site via its own proxy. If the site loads via guardster or any other proxy site for that matter than there is definitely a DNS or possibly a blocking issue in place. More than likely the blocking would be coming from the site you are trying to reach if there was indeed blockin going on. In reality I would put my money on the DNS issue as sometimes different regions propogate their tables slower than others and may have invalid information
- you can do a similar thing with firefox by downloading the SwitchProxy extension. It's similar to using Steganos software etc and is a ueful extension when you want to provide some anonynimity to your browsing.
Anyhow I'd be curious to see you result from trying one of these two methods. | |

Guardster wouldn't let me access the site, because it said the proxy had a list of servers that was allowed, and empornium's wasn't one of them. I tried it on the »www.the-cloak.com and it worked, empornium came up. I'll download firefox, and the switchproxy extension, and hope that i can get my normal perv status back.

Springfield, IL | hey guys just a quick thanks! I have been blocked by Insight from one of my club sites www.grandamgt.com and telephone calls to insight have been useless. I can now answer my PM's after 2 weeks! woohoo!
