Normally the NIS firewall and NAV setups are different. You can actually browse the CD (if it's a CD) and pick out the NAV installer. Normally Symantec's suites have a common interface, and their components (firewall and anti-virus in this case) "plug-in".
Post-setup is a bit different. Even though I could isolate, and install NAV separately, getting it to work properly has been a different story. It may just be my bad luck with the consumer products of Symantec. Their corp AVs are by far more reliable (hmmm...).

my SAV license is for 8 with unlimited updates but not upgrades, and was trying to save a bit of $ by not having to upgrade it. after the aggro i've had with dell over this machine, i just hated to not get whatever i could from them . but headaches (i should say 'more headaches') i don't need.

said by angelique :Just checked add/remove software in windows control panel and it gives you the option to uninstall all or just portions of NIS. Failing that, there are ways to grab a copy of the installation media and legally obtained key. I'll leave the semantics to you, Dell, and Symantec  . |
