Re: "gelding" NIS?

I'm not sure about the trial version but the full version of NIS 2005 allows you to choose what gets installed, NIS NAV or both.

I believe NIS 2005 requires its NAV to be installed.

yes, angelique, i do know that. the point was that NIS will be installed already, and then i want to "castrate" it...remove everything except NAV. if they would send me the cds, i know i can do it, but without them...

it does, but when installing fresh from the cd, i believe you can install either the whole suite, or just the NAV. but my issue is that with the whole suite pre-installed, i want to nuke everything except the NAV, and it's looking like i can't.

back to the search for a new AV . or just keep using SAV 8 and accept it's annoying tendency to not be able to scan about 50 files, not all in use (decompression problems, etc.) other that that problem, i've been fine with SAV, and we have 5 licenses and unexpiring updates (just not upgrades). and dealing with symantec tech support is...well...there are no words .

I have Nis installed and you do have the option to select what to install. I installed NIS without NAV.

Just checked add/remove software in windows control panel and it gives you the option to uninstall all or just portions of NIS.

I am pretty sure NIS 2005 doesn't let you not install its NAV. It has been awhile since I used it though. Easy check. Run Add/Remove Programs list and see if it lets you install/uninstall its NAV from NIS 2005.
