What a load of B.S. since early this morning 6-6-05 in the North Bay area in California comcast's services for the internet are near non existant, I've called the 1-800 tech support numerious time's and was told it will be fixed when its fixed sorry for your inconvenience Sir, "Just Freaking Great". The volume of call's reported in my area is so high that the comcast support was having people in Canada answering the call's, I then tried to contact the local office in my area and they would not answer their phone, Their support is so lacking and inconsistant it just wants you to go Postal on them. This getting to be a serious C.F. |

This has been killing us too.
When Comcast conks out, we lose the DHCP on our router and everything has to be reset.
All we get when we call is (if we get through) we are working on it. |

Well holy crapcast batman!!! at least it ain't just me. I even went out and bought a new $80 linksys modem because the friggin' tech support lackies claim there was nothing wrong.
here's my scenario. On wedneday evening (6/15/05) I started having really bad connection, it was like dialup. I called tech "no outage reported in your area". Those f-ing d--chbags think cycling the modem will cure everything. Next time I'm telling them "Look i've talked with you 15 times in the last 3 days. Don't you think I've tried that already?"
Anyway, back on point. Thursday was dialup type speed too, although thursday morning at around 3am I got them to admit there was an "OS Upgrade" they were performing in my area.
Thursday evening, dialup type speeds. Got a tech to "ping" me, and said there was 7% packet loss, and he'll send a guy out. "No outage reported". I checked online, and there WAS an outage reported: »tinyurl.com/7pqph
Friday it didn't work at all (bought a new modem, thought maybe it was me). They claimed yet again "no outage reported", after seeing these posts, I know they are full of sh*t. You know, I don't mind an outage once in awhile, but when they don't sync up their tech support phones guys and the network engineers on this, it really chaps my hide. One time I called friday (i called 4 times already today) I got an automated "outage alert" in my area. "Press 1 to get an autmoated callback when the outage is fixed". It's been 15 hours, and I still haven't gotten that call - called two more times. One guy claimed "no outage reported" and the other intiially said none, then 10 minutes later after cycling the modem said "oh wait. there is a dhcp sync up issue in your area". WTF don't you just look a little closer before we go through this bs all over again? (this is all going on my blog at »www.chovy.com) I'm PO'd at Comcast lately.
PS - I run Linux as well as XP, and use "mtr google.com" to check my packet loss (typically at around 50%, which explains the slowness), as well as the tests here at dslreports. Tonight I'm getting 350kbps down and 357kbps up.

CHANGE YOUR SPLITTER ON THE BOX, GO RADIOSHACK AND BUY
AND NEW 2.4GHZ SATTELITE SPLITTER, THAT WILL FIX IT!!!
THE COMCAST ONE BY THEM IS A PIECE OF CRAP. CHANGE ALL OF THEM, YOU'LL SEE NO MORE PROBLEMS!!! |

| what do you mean by "Splitter" on the box. Are you talking about splitting the cable where it goes to TV and one to Modem?
I've already replaced that splitter. Makes no difference.
Comcast is down for me today. Don't know why, they report no outage.

I have been out since 6/13 and have been jerked around by comcast also. They tell me the outage was fixed 6/15.BS! They will have to see my place. So I make an appointment for Sat 6/18. No show. I call to ask why and was told they did not have to come in my place because it was *outage* related and they are still working on it.*BS* 6/20 still no service.:( I was told there was no outage and they would send someone out. I told them they had one more chance, nice of me no? We will see what they have to say Sat, 6/25. I know SBC/Yahoo has a nice offer for 1.5M-3.0M $24.95. And if they can not get me back on the net this weekend I will be signing up with SBC the first chance I get! |

My question is,....Why are you still with them? Why would you spend your hard earned money on a piece of shit service like that? I got WAY tired of their crap and canceled. There are good hsi service providers out there, trust me, you just have to find them. |

i have been looking at sbc, sonic.net, and speakeasy.net for dsl service, instead of comcast.
I did find however, that my linksys modem (brand new) was dropping the connection every day and half or so. |

I replaced the Linksys modem (on suggestion of another member here), and voila!!! Connection works again. At least this time, that's what my problem was.
The still suck ass though. In my free time, I call them up and play stupid...ask them:
"What's the difference between Microsoft Internet and Google Internet. and with Cramcost, can I use it too?". |
