I have the same exact problem...
You need to start your own topic. Each topic like this addresses only one person's computer issue.

Ok... I hope someone finds this post and can respond. Today, 6/13 I have had the same thing happen. This "Anti Virus Gold" thing is on my desktop. Same thing as the original poster had... red X and all. Internet explorer doesn't want to work. I've downloaded the spysweeper and will try that. If anyone has free long distance, can you please call me if you might know what else to try? I do have another system that I may try to use in order to access email, so you can try to email me at loverulez@yahoo.com

Spybot and Adaware have found things on the system, but "intmon.exe" is running on my processes which I believe is a worm. Thanks... 937-849-0125

I solved the problem!!!

First of all run your Anti-virus program and quarantine everything. Then install and run Webroot Spy Sweeper (I did the trial version, but I will be buying it when my trial is up in 15 days.) It finds the rest of the traces running in your memory and gets rid of them. The red x is now completely gone as is everything else that was bugging my computer! Wahoo!
