WGT624 Version 1 Fried After Firmware Update

Has anyone else had this problem? I updated the firmware to the latest version this week and my router stopped working, wouldn't respond to ping, wont reset. Netgear told me that it's a hardware problem but mine is old and out of warranty.

Seems fishy to me it has a hardware failure right when I updated, did anyone else update an older version 1 WGT624 without any problems? If they're lying to me I want to screw them.

Router Status
Account Name WGT624
Hardware Version V1
Firmware Version V4.2.8_1.0.1

Don't know which version you are referring to.

Seems to work okay for me.

"Firmware Version V4.2.8_1.0.1"

Is that the most current beta version of firmware?

I am using V4.2.7_1.0.1, but I have v2 of the WGT624 router.

I did try the router upgrade option, and no firmware is available.

I just updated my WGT624 version 2 router to 4.2.6 from 4.2.4 (it only suggested 4.2.6--odd....), and now it's fried. The wireless light doesn't come on, and all wired connections have 'limited or no connectivity'. Attempts to repair the wired connections fail because of a failure to renew the IP address, which the router's supposed to assign, right?

What I really want to fix though is the wireless. The router manual states 'If the power, local, internet, or wireless LEDs do not come on, refer to the following appropriate section.' The wireless section does not exist. There's a power LED section, a local and internet port LED section, but NO WIRELESS SECTION. Way to go netgear for not only making shitty products, but shitty manuals as well.

If anybody has any ideas on how to remedy the situation, I'd love to hear 'em, but my guess is that the router is physically damaged or fubar'd...and that netgear simply blows.

Same thing happened to me. I called Netgear and they told me to send it to them and they sent me a new one..but I had to pay for shipping.

-good luck.
