[XP Pro] Disable Security Warnings

Warning

I can unblock it here

Whenever I download an application file with a .exe extention and try to run it I get the warning shown. I know I can disable all future warnings for the file from the properties by clicking "Unblock," but I wanted to know if theres a global disable. I don't want it to block anything that I download. Is there a way to do this?
This is a new "feature" of XP SP2, but I can't find the option to turn it off. This happens on .zip files also.

I found that when I googled, but I didn't like it since it was risky. I was hoping there was some check box that I was overlooking.

The feature is called Attachment Execution Services(AES). When a program is run AES examines the file to see whether the file has a file stream of the type Zone.Identifier. Then AES determines what zone the file is from and what level of protection to apply when the file is run.

To disable the zone checking try this:
Create a SEE_MASK_NOZONECHECKS system environment variable and set it to 1

Edit: Well, Cudni See Profile bet me to the punch.

Well, it isn't really any riskier than is was before you installed SP2. But it seemed that is what you wanted. It doesn't affect DEP it just doesn't check which zone the file came from Internet etc.

What exactly is zone checking? I only figured it was risky because I thought it would turn off the zones feature in IE. So there would be no Internet Zone or Trusted Sites Zones, etc. Maybe I'm wrong?

It means pretty much what is says. AES checks what zone the file you're executing came from. You are presented with the Open File - Security Warning when the files originated from the Internet zone. Setting the variable doesn't turn off zones just whether the file's origin is checked when it is executed. It is the "global" setting you were asking about.

Nice find Cudni See Profile!

It's surprising that this was not listed in the security center settings though.
