| A better proposal
Instead of just banning Muni form wiring up broad band networks, how about one prohibiting federal tax dollars to be used to build public broadband networks nor levy any new taxes on Internet, Phone connection to fund Muni Networks. The States could do likewise.
My proposal will be the Tax Payer Telecommunication Protection Act. It will be my goal to bring out the real issue. A bunch of big spending politicians want to stay in office. Building networks, except for the defense department, is one program government does not need to involve it self. My tax dollars should only go to protecting our citizens, Fire and Police. The rest should be left to private enterprise. |

| And how do you think the police and fire are supposed to protect you if they don't have access to high speed connections, through out your City. And how much do you want your politicians to pay the incumbents for those services? What do you think it costs to create the video to the car, or to support mobile data terminals, or to build redundant communications to insure support for disasters?
Small cities don't have purchasing power, they pay high rates for T-1s and more. These bills even prevent Institutional Networks (I-Nets) so the incumbents can have anchor tenants for their sub-optimal (with respect to bandwidth, features and functionality) networks. |
