| reply to Margolis said by Margolis:It's not just cloth. Everything has skyrocketed. 10 slot bags being listed for 1G!! 12 slot for 2G and 14slot for 4-5G!!! that is outrageous. I have never paid more than 65s for a 12slot and 1.75G for 14slot bags. Wow. I found that kind of funny. Back in February/March my Warlock was making Runecloth Bags and selling them for 4g50s to 6g on weekends at the AH. Now, the average is about 2g50s. It's not even worth making, nowadays. The market is definitely flooded. It's very hard to find a niche. -- Clans - Games - GameTech - S.F.Bay - 新 |

KaltesPremium join:2002-12-04 Los Angeles, CA | Inflation + 300 tradeskill Two things are guaranteed to happen as time goes on in world of warcraft:
(1) INFLATION: more gold in the game, held by more players, who have less to spend it on. Inevitably some of this gold is poured into alts, flooding every aspect of the economy with an ever-increasing pool of gold.
(2) MORE PLAYERS AT MAX TRADESKILL: it is a buyers market when tradeskillers are levelling their skill. They often sell at below cost, losing money in order to level skill. As more of them hit 300, they stop selling below cost, and prices rise. Supply of unprofitable products falls, prices rise. Supply of profitable products rise, pushing proces down to the point where nothing is really all that profitable.
The supply-side of the economy will always be strong. Various bars and herbs have risen in price even faster than inflation. A newbie with mining and herbalism can rake in Gold far faster now that the same newbie could 6 months ago.
Another side effect of all this is that gold-farmers will make less $ per hour. I wouldn't be surprised if over the next 12 months most of the gold farming companies went out of business. As soon as the next big game comes out, you can bet a lot of chinese farmers will start up there. A lot of the profit in gold-farming comes in the initial push within the game where a lot of ambitious people are willing to shell out $$$ to keep ahead of others. At this point, with more and more people hitting 60, with gold getting easier to come by every day, and with less and less to spend gold on, chinese gold-farmer companies are going to have to spend more money for less profit. |

But not the herbalism part. I can't even give away stacks of herbs hardly. I list stacks of peacebloom with a 1s start and 6s buyout and they are all returned unsold after 24 hour auctions!! I have given up trying to sell herbs, it is useless. I only go out to collect what my alchemist needs now. Mining is a huge moneymaker though |

Re: Gold Supply is going down! said by hsindogg:I actually make money by browsing all categories for blues from levels 15-28ish that are selling at 1-3g because you can easily resell them to twinked alts for 5-10g. 5-10g isn't TOO bad. But I wanted a lvl 15 blue axe for my lvl 15 dwarf warrior. I tried two auctions, but had to leave for work just a few minutes before they were over, my last bid was 6g on 1 and 6g50s on the second. Didn't get either one. Then the same axe goes up the next day with a 15g starting price and 20g bo, for a lvl 15 weapon!!!
quote: My warlock tailor/enchanter alt makes spidersilk boots enchanted with +3 stamina and I sell for for 10g buyouts. Costs maybe 2g to make depending on how cheap I can get the mats on the AH.
my mage tailor/enchanter can only get 4g50s-5g for spidersilk boots. I have tried 6g buyouts and they have been returned everytime. I have even had 5g buyouts returned:( And they cost me a bit more to make because of how hard it is to find iridescent pearls. I can usually get 2 or 3 spidersilk in a couple hours of grinding for it, but the pearls are another story. I have to buy most of those, and people are listing them with 1g starting and 2-3g buyouts. Everyonce in a while I can get lucky and get them for about 50-75s though. |

Sure they said it in the ToS you agreed to, but they still can't do that The most Blizzard could do as a result of a TOS violation, is ban your CD key. That is all. This is because the TOS is a contract and if you 'breach' their contract, all they can do is terminate the contract (allowing them to ban your CD key) and sue for damages, but no damages would exist for mere TOS violations. You would have to be crashing the servers or something, which would get you in more trouble than a TOS violation. |

| reply to Margolis Enchant it with +3 stamina. I think that only takes souldust, which I get a lot of greens from my main to disenchant into.
The market will depend on how many others have it up for auction too. I saw a few people put their boots up for 5g BO's. So I waited until they were gone and put mine up with the +3 stamina enchant, and did a 7g starting, 9g BO. It might not sell right away, but the deposit is like 6s for 24 hours so there's not much loss if it doesn't sell.
Another great time to put that auction up is on the weekends for the weekend warriors. -- "I triple guarantee you, there are no American soldiers in Baghdad." - Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, Iraqi Information Minister |

| reply to dierro My mid-level (30) expert herbalist/expert alchemist/fishing mage on Skywall has had mixed results recently at the AH.
I have had a lot of success selling blackmouth oil, fire oil, and greater healing potion (alchemy level 155).
My success rate for selling the 20's-level green items that I pick up during grinding and questing has fallen precipitously. It's gotten to the point where I set a starting price only a little above what a vendor would pay and most items go unsold.
What surprised me last weekend was that none of the mana potion (alchemy level 160) I put up for auction sold, and I didn't think the starting price was out of line. Of course, I can only suspect but not confirm that the high starting prices I see on the auction browser are for the benefit of alts rather than true going rates.
But I can work with that. If I need some gold the ingredients for greater healing potion (Kingsblood and Liferoot) are a little easier to farm than those for mana potion (Kingsblood and Strangekelp).
I've just gotten to the point where I'm not going to pick up herbalism or alchemy experience points for making this stuff now, but that's OK because I recognize that I'm doing it for mage training tuition. If I could ever pick up that stupid swiftness potion recipe I'd be golden.
For herbalism and alchemy XP it's time to hit Goldthorn territory.

I like to take the easy way out when it comes to tradeskills, so I went looking for that non-existant NPC listed on Thottbot.com that sells the recipe. Obvious or not, he doesn't exist anymore (beta, he did I believe). Then I gained a flash of insight and ...checked the Auction House. 50 silver buyout...thx have a nice day, drive thru.
I really haven't found any particular potion that sells like hotcakes. I use the Auctioneer mod to set my prices and just wait until the Aussie weekend (Thursday night) to put my stuff on 24 hour auctions. Usually everything sells. |

What a coincidence. After duo'ing with an Aussie last night until he had to leave to eat lunch, that's what I decided to do. Put all my goodies on 24-hour auction instead of waiting until Friday or Saturday. We'll see how it goes.

I have at least two stacks of swiftthistle in the bank waiting for that magic moment when I get my hands on the swiftness potion recipe. Guess it would be more useful to turn that into money now and farm the mageroyal and briarthorn later when I need more.

| reply to dierro As a miner, I do a lot of mining in the badlands and searing gorge. In an hour of work, I can make 25 gold. That isn't half bad at all. All I do with my 60 warrior is farm 1 hour a day and make MC runs. AT first, I was proud. Now, it is getting downright tedius.
Which is why I am playing a Druid and a Warlock now. I enjoy these characters at the same time I am grinding with the warrior to get money.
I have always been tempted to buy gold. How much is an hour of my time worth? $10 to get 100 gold is the equivalent of 4 hours of my time. Is my time worth $2.50 per hour?
