Good-bye IGS! I love you! :(

After being with IGS since the great CAPS-ATTACK of 2002, I am sad to say...good-bye.

I recently purchased 5 cell phones from Bell (Family Plan) and in order to get a $5 discount, I'm going to have to switch to Sympatico.

I have had only ONE issue with IGS in the entire 3 years I was with them. And it was not something they had control over. They have always been kind and have been very eager to keep me happy! (Recently switched my monthly fee to honor a new activation deal they were having). They have never made me feel like I was just a paycheck or another number. I've always spoken with people who were very enthusiastic on the phone and very willing to help me with any issue I may have had (Except the VERY first time I called in).

I would GLADLY stay with IGS if it were possible and I very highly recommend IGS to everything that moves

Thank you igsjake for your continued effort here in the forums, it's absolutely appreciated. And if anyone makes you feel like you don't belong here, or claim you're a "bender-over" or a "corporate whore", tell them where to go

Good-bye IGS! You'll always be in my heart!

Well hello Sympatico....*intimidating stare*

I was wondering too, seems like a hassle for just $5 total

I still love IGS except for the current news server. Support has also stopped answering my emails.

Nope. $5 off the entire monthly bill (At least from how it was explained to me). But they've also thrown in free Wireless equipment (After some haggling).

Yeah and i bet there will be downtime because bell will screw something up during the changeover and it'll take a couple weeks to get sync again cuz of the strike.

Very true. The $5 off my monthly bill isn't really the *only* reason. There are other things that I've taken into consideration as well.

For instance, my current connection is 1728/640. This is ridiculous considering I live in a decently populated area. This is in no way IGS' responsibility nor within their "can do". Switching to Sympatico will certainly give me some leverage. IGS has worked their butts off to get my speeds up to par and Bell hasn't budged at all. They've tried to work with Bell and have even put me on a list to be upgraded as soon as possible. Still nothing. Either way...that's taken into consideration as well

Will follow up...

Oh boy, I hope you don't get bitten in the ass with this and end up with an even lower profile. Sympatico can be extremely ignorant when it comes to profile changes, especially on marginal lines. You had good service with IGS on a lower profile, you should have stayed with it.

Bell is giving me the same profile to start with. I made SURE of that (as sure as I can obviously). Even if it doesn't pan out, IGS will still be there Either way, this isn't a Lose/Lose situation. It's a Win/Stay the same situation. I can either get Bell to get me upgraded (Which is exactly what I was 2 years ago before it magically changed and I became too far from the CO), or I can switch back to IGS

And to be honest, I'll be saving more then $5/month.

Currently my bill from IGS is $55/month. With Sympatico my service will be $44/month. So really, all in all I'll be saving $10-15/month.

But again I repeat, IGS did NOTHING to provoke this. They are in my eyes, the best ISP out there.

How is your IGS bill at $55? Are you renting a modem from them? Isn't IGS' regular 3meg service $35/month but you have to supply your modem? Even if you're renting a modem from them, I dont think it'd be more than $10/month putting it in the sympatico range.

For 3meg? Dang. How much do they charge for static, $10? Or is the $55 after taxes or before?

I was never able to get full speeds with IGS for some reason, however the pings were very nice.

Uh huh. But I still don't see why he should be asking me why HE'S paying $10 ;P I don't control billing.

There was a new account activation deal on static IP addresses a while back and I was able to get in on it.
