| What size cpu fan do I have?
I lost my cpu fan after I took it out to replace it and can't find a reference as to what fan it used. Its a HP Pavillion 8565C desktop, PIII 500, top of cartridge says 500/512/100/2.0 S1, 98 SL35E. It appears to be less than 60mm. The heatsink is shaped a little bit like a pyramid and has a black fan holder mounted to it.

| Is it the standard SECC2 fan?

| I found a picture but cant link it here. Its at mycableshop.com and is listed as a SECCII Slot1 PII/III heatsink/fan. All I need is the fan, but if I have to I can buy the whole thing. I wanted to upgrade the fan since I do distributed computing at 100% cpu useage. |

Chances are, it's 50mm. It may be difficult to find the exact replacement since those Slot 1 heatsink/fan combos come with their own unique fan. It may be easier to replace the entire combo. |

| Thank you sir. The Cooler Master picture is exactly it! And the 50x50x10 sounds very familiar. I assume that if I have to replace the heatsink/fan combo that I will have to re-do the thermal compound? ArticSilver 5 ok? I'm used to AMD XP stuff not Intel. The computer is a 1998, would the thermal grease or pad or whatever they used on these seccII things, still be good or would it be better to re-do it anyway. |
