I have both modems. My line is similar to your, i.e. SNR ~10 and attenuation ~63.0. The 6520 gives a better speed. I can get upto 1.4Mbps (~170KB/s) downstream. My STHome only gives upto 1Meg (115KB/s.) I think something is wrong with my STHome.

My speed profile is the 1728/640 one. I have the 6520 as that is what they sent me (I signed up a month or so ago). I ordered an Alcatel Speedtouch Home from eBay (we have one at my parents place and it is awesome) so we'll see how that goes.

france		 The STH are starting to show their age (specially the K versions); try to get a v510 or better a v516 (ADSL2 ready), they handle poor lines very well.
