   Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
Updated Date: 05-jun-2005
Creation Date: 25-apr-2002
Expiration Date: 25-apr-2005

That status is not normal. Here's what it is:
said by »www.domainpunch.com/support/arti···tus.php:
A domain name is placed in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status when a registrar requests the deletion of a name that is not within the Add Grace Period. A name that is in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status will not be included in the zone file. A registrar can not modify or purge a name in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status. The only action a registrar can take on a name in REDEMPTIONPERIOD is to request that it be restored. Any other registrar requests to modify or otherwise update the domain will be rejected. Unless restored, the domain will be held in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status for a specified number of calendar days. The current length of this Redemption Period is thirty calendar days.

Highly doubtful you'll be able to register it as a new domain name.

After the redemption period ends, the deletion period begins. During this time all whois information is cleared and the domain is "dropped" some time in a period of 5-7 days.

There are at least three services who continuously hit whois servers and whose sole purpose are to pick up expiring domain names as soon as they're released into the pool. Then they're turned around and awarded to the highest bidder.

Your best chance of acquiring this domain is to register with one of these companies and put down however much you're willing to spend on it.

Naaaaaah.

That name is no big deal. Just let it finish and then grab it. Those services are ridiculously expensive.

My point is there's very little chance he'll actually be able to do that.

I completely disagree. If it were some big time name or something, yeah, but that one is not a real grabber.

Looks like you've never seen a domain name expire.

Quite a few domain names with 'okay' amounts of traffic are bought out after they expire. I've had this happen to a domain name that I used before.

1 edit
If a domain name has traffic, someone will buy it and attempt to sell it for a higher cost... or just forward it to some spyware/porn/other goodies.

See these:
»coffee.co.nz/
»www.boxalls.com/

P.S. Geez only has two 'e's in it.

I had a domain pcikup that maybe got 100 hits a month a few years ago. Now they dumped it after about 2 years.

He had his chance but blew it.

What, Removed, you buy and and now will be selling it to him for a profit?

Nobody would have taken it if it weren't a "real grabber".

They would if they saw his post and wanted to see if they could make money off of it.

$4 for a domain ain't no biggie.

You watch. He will get an email or IM.
