ok this sucks, DVR goes capoot after 1 month

Well after just over a month my DVR has stopped working. I have tried unplugging and what not and still nothing. And here is the sucking thing, I will not have anyone out TILL the 8th! lol That too me is unbelievable. 5 days to get a tech out to get a box, maybe it is time to hire some more people. It should NOT take 5 days to get a tech out to your place to replace a box. Either hire more, or give the front desk people DVR's to decrease the load. Really not to happy about this situation. I have asked for a refund for these 5 days, and was told I would get one. I am happy about that, but for it to take that long is just not right.

What is the serial numbers on the bottom of the box?

I know they had a rash of them go bad, IE 1411...... Thru 1423...... Thats what was posted on the Motorola website anyway..

But i do Agree 5 days is too long for a box swap

I am on my third box, the last two just stop working and I had
to wait a week to get another box. I wish Insight would stop treating the customer like idiots, and let the customer install their own box, it doesn't take a genius to install a box.

I was able to pick my DVR up in the office, I don't see why they would not let you go in and swap it. I am having some problems with mine, on the HD channels periodically I get a blue line down the Left hand side about where the 4:3 letter boxing would be if it was not wide screen format. Power down and up and gone, comes back again in a day or 2. I am going to hold out swapping until I know Bloomington has the dual tuner boxes and swap then.

That's a bad Box, Those were recalled by Motorola, because they were not powering on. They would just shut off and not do anything

I also see the 4:3 line occasionally especially if I am switching from screenmode to screenmode and especially in and out of the On-Demand screen.

... and this is why I run my own PVR system. The cable company can't auto-expire my recordings, or screw me with hardware.

I have a fix for the blue bar on the left side of the screen. Go in to your settings and adjust the screen position. When you go in to a menu like the On Demand system it's only in 4:3 mode. Move the position over to the left more so it's just a little past where the line appear and it won't do it anymore. That fixed it for me. I was getting it everytime I'd come out of the On Demand screen.

I run one also, but I do like to record my HD content as well and it is the only set top box that does HDTV so it does not make a difference.

Thanks for the tip will give that a try. Since it goes away for me with a quick power down and up it has not bothered me enough to complain, until I can get teh 6412.
