If you hold shift and alt it will start from the centre out as well as keep a circle. Then I'd use selection modify increase/decrease to get exactly what I want.

Mobile, AL		 Thanks fourboxers - that is just what I was looking for. I thought there had to be a way of doing that, but just could not find it.

Is there any way of making the canvas round to fit the circle? Or is it always square or rectangular?

clubs:		 The canvas is always square or rectangular, since I know you have to save your images as high quality jpegs transparency is not available. Transparency would give the appearance of circular but the canvas would still not be.
