| Just basically would use the internet connection sharing option in Windows XP. It acts as a small dhcp server and will hand out IP addresses through the ethernet card.
I did the same thing while using the neighbors wireless connection. Plugged in my USB adapter, then used internet connection sharing to act as DHCP server. I ran it through a router, and plugged in my Vonage phone. I had free internet for 3 mos until they moved. It was a great setup. I am sure it would have worked better through a distro of Linux, but it suited my needs. |
