10 GB email storage? 500 MB attachements? Do they mean 10 MB storage and 500 KB attachements?
That alone makes it look fishy. |

On their availability page, they list bandwidth traffic of 100GB. So there is some discrepancy. It is quite possible that may not have yet been updated that page. Their main page also says Unlimited Bandwidth - Download without worrying about over charges I've posted on their forum and emailed them asking for clarification. |

| reply to Sean 10GB isn't totally out of the question. gmail is offering 2GB+, and storage is cheap. But then again, if they have any decent number of users, with 10GB of email storage, people will just leave mail on the server...(not sure if they use pop3 or imap), they'll need TB storage just for mail. Do they have a SAN/NAS for the mail spool.
I agree 500MB attachments is ridiculous. I'm sure quite a few mail systems limit the message size to something like 25MB or even 10MB. |

Somewhat amusing, but on the page:
They list their "Online Community" as some sort of feature. They must think its VERY important, because its in the list 3 time!
They also list Support twice, and Gaming twice, just in case you missed them the first time. |

If they haven't put much effort into their website to make things consistent, I don't expect too much effort in supporting their services as they do not present themselves as being professionals. |

| The website looks like its been made wiht some generic template. I swear i've seen it used before on cheapass webhosting services.
The price seems a little too good to be true. 4032/800 access for as low as $33.95 on a 12 year contract, and $39.95 for no contract. Thats awfully cheap, I have yet to see an ISP provide Ultra speeds for less than $50/month. And modem is included. -- }·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸¸.·´ |

I've never heard of Canaca.com before, but if they already offer crappy service in hosting, it's doesn't give me a good impression on their ISP service.
I doubts that they have their own network at the CO's. Out east where Bell/Sympatico does offer 4Mbps ADSL, I can see them reselling those services at the claimed 4Mbps and unlimited.
In BC/Alberta, Telus is the only real ADSL provider. If Acanac is reselling Telus, I doubt they can offer what they offer out east. I'm thinking in the end Acanac will be like Primus...higher speeds out east (up to 3.0 Mbps downstream and 800 Kbps upstream) (guess they are squeaking in up to 4Mbps), and crippled speeds in the west (up to 1.5 Mbps downstream and 512 Kbps upstream.) Both Primus and Acanac offer services in the same 4 provinces. Coincidence? I think not. |

Storage is cheap, and it will only get cheaper by the end of the year. Hitachi to slated to release 1TB hard drives, tho someone showed me a link to a no-name company who is making 2TB drives that you can buy right now.

| reply to CookieKid CookieKid, do let us know how things go. I would assume there be some delay in the switch from Telus to Acanac with Telus on strike. If Acanac can deliver on their claims, there could be a following of lemmings. |
