| Express ISP Change - how does it work?
Hi, I'm currently a subscriber with SBC Yahoo DSL, I am planning to switch from DSLX, and my question is how does Express ISP change work? My current modem is Speedstream 5260 connect to Netgear MR814 router. Do I just change from PPoE to DHCP in my computer and log in to the new service? And do I need to change any setting on the router? I would appreciate if you can tell me what the procedure would be. Second question; Will there be any delay or problem to switch from SBC? Thanks for your help in advanced. |

| Well for me, DSLX sent me my modem ( new wirespeed sp? ) and when I noticed my line disconnected, I typed in my info in my router for DSLX and it syncs. I didn't need to change the modem, but it's a good idea to. There's probably less than a day worth of downtime if any. They DCed me at night, so I couldn't tell the difference ^^ Just sign up like 2 weeks before your service expires for SBC, then when you get confirm, call SBC and cancel. |

| reply to imsky Tommy thanks for the info. I put in my order on Sat and receive an activation date on the 18th. I have a netgear router, and I understand dslx using DHCP and not PPOE; do I need to enter my dslx user name, password and DNS number? or what would be the correct way to set up? Thanks for your help in advanced. |

| When you are no longer able to connect using your SBC-Yahoo login you just need to change your router to obtain an IP address automatically or DHCP. Once the transfer is complete your router will automatically get assigned an IP address and DNS servers. No need to enter in a username or password. -- Will work for reviews. |

| Since speed is based on the quality and distance of your phone line you generally will get approximately the same speed as your current service. -- Will work for reviews. |
