I dont think you can because you would have to download the firmware from the net and you cant access the net with the boxes............... Time to start re-recording

Yeah, I can't think of any good way. Maybe buy a DVD recorder and record them over.

One I personally think it would nice if Insight provided an easy way for us to in fact do this. My second thought on this is - isn't the method of using a laptop and the Firewire connection an option here? The programs could then be offloaded to a laptop. Or have I missed something here?

I like the idea of the laptop and firewire, at least I would still have my stuff, but...my laptop doesn't have firewire (it's a little old, but still does the job)

The process might work for you. There are a few older threads that discuss how to go about do this. Unfortunately as far as I'm aware it can only be done using the Firewire port. We recently deleted some stuff we wanted to archive because we have no laptop. So a newscast that my girlfriends nephew was on and an episode of Roker on the Road featuring a local restaurant we like had to be deleted. And Roker doesn't offer episode DVD's. Even though those are always way overpriced.
