| reply to askmrauto Dude, you really aren't playing with a full deck of cards. I think you are just doing it for the attention.
You should know if you truly are a Christian that this is wrong. The law says it is wrong and Bible says it is wrong.
For reference here is an article concerning Cybersquatting
Cybersquatting means registering, selling or using a domain name with the intent of profiting from the goodwill of someone else's trademark. It generally refers to the practice of buying up domain names that use the names of existing businesses with the intent to sell the names for a profit to those businesses.
which was hit #1 when searching for cybersquatting on google.
Here is your Bible reference (thanks to bible.crosswalk.com)
Exodus 20:15 - "You shall not steal.
Leviticus 19:11 - 'You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.
Deuteronomy 5:19 - 'You shall not steal.
The only reason why you choose the name was the popularity of the crosswalk.com.
Lastly, I have dealt legally with this issue before where I bought a domain name that included part of my home associations name for the purpose of having a community website.
I got "The Letter" and called the Lawyer to ask if they had a trademark. They did not, I then informed them that my website was not-for-profit (it was only a forum) and that I had no intention of selling the domain to them.
The Lawyer apologized and I never heard from them again. This is the only viable way of using a domain name that is similar to some else's.
Oh by the way, If they do take you to court (which looks highly probable from your attitude) if the are awarded damages, it doesn't matter if you actually have the money, they will garnish your wages until it is paid. From the looks of it you have made it a slam dunk for their lawyer.
In fact I think I will be sending an e-mail to there legal department after this with links to your posts... |

Nobody.
Why? Because you have more than two brain cells and can read right through the plain words. My "innocent, supportive" quote is clearly pejorative no matter how much I try to weasel out of it.
Likewise: in spite of your weasel words that you're just trying to run a webhosting operation, you're the only one in this forum who doesn't think that you're trying to game a bigger player. Everybody else sees right through it, especially the pseudo-religious garbage that's an embarrassment to those of us who take that kind of thing seriously.
If you want to get into webhosting, that's fine (though you're going to find that it's much more work than it looks). But do it in a way such that you stand on the merits of your own abilities, not leeching off the cachet of somebody else.

Steve -- who'd never suggest that you're dishonest I'm goint to repeat myself ONE LAST TIME!!! If I really wanted to take crosswalk.com and all there "traffic" I would not big disclaimer on my site. Second, I would not be marketing towards hosting which they do not provide. Third I am going to be attacking general customers! I have decided not to go the Christian route!. Visit my site and do a little reading,
O' and by the way have you ever seen how many domains have microsoft in their names? Why don't we sue all of them? Send them all letters? Hell why don't we sue everybody that has a domain that is trademarked?
If crosswalk.com was really that popular and I was trying to leach traffic of them do you think I would make a big stink like I have done? Don't you think I would kept it a little quieter? Not to mention a little better domain such as christiancrosswalk.com
Well nice to know you all? I leave all you unintelligent people to on the carry thread amongst yourselves! |

1 edit | reply to askmrauto I have a couple more things to say about this.
Crosswalkhosting would have been fine, if you didnt mention CRISTIANS in any way. This way the Crosswalk.com folks can't get on your backs, since a Crosswalk really means, a place where pedestrians cross the road. I have attached a picture here of a crosswalk, in case some of the christians forgot what a crosswalk really is.
Crosswalkhosting should be fine if you don't mention christians/christian hosting in any way. Keep in mind, a crosswalk is not a christian word. A crosswalk is a place where pedestrians cross the road! Attached here, is a picture of a croswalk; I just want to show you people who are on Crosswalk.com's side. I am not taking sides of anyone here, but some of the posters here are getting out of hand, blaming someone for using a normal english word, such as Crosswalk for copyright infringement. Here is a quote of my post from one of your 20 threads spread across different forums about the same subject |

Steve Now I'm jealous, he didn't privately threaten and cuss at me like a good Christian should. He must be Baptist...

Just kidding, in all honesty he is a poor reflection of how most Christians should behave.
I'm sure if the Pope read this thread maybe he'd move vactian.com to host with BEVIRUSFREE. |

This reflects poorly on him as a webhoster, which should matter to all of them.

| Okay, I changed my website for all of U2 SEE!!! I really don't care who buys hosting from me!!! Just like I'm sure crosswalk.com does not care if BK Christians buy products from their advertisers. Remember "They are a business and have bills to pay". That's all I have to say about this matter.
If you want to choose to beat the trademark subject to death that is fine? As far as you being a jerk Steve, I really think you are. If you have such a personal agenda against what I'm doing why don't you call and say it to my face you coward! |

| reply to askmrauto Call and say it to my face? Hmmmmm....Shouldn't that be "call and say it into a phone that then goes through the internet or wires then comes out to my router then to my phone which is in front of my face?"
bevirusfree, for someone who "recently" became a christian ( from what I wonder if this is the type of christian you are), wants to listen to christian music supposedly, and REALLY wants to help others, you should already know the error in your ways and not pursue it further.
The name calling, hateful remarks, and obvious attempts to piggyback off of a legitmate domain just to profit for yourself if deplorable...
It's because of so called "christians" like you that I became a Buddhist... |

But the only thing I know about you is what I've seen here, and it looks like you're a smart-alec who thinks that clever words can cover a dishonorable motive, and that you get belligerent when called on it. I have no "personal agenda" against you other than to make my own observations about how you conduct yourself.

I suggest you remove the Chrstian remarks, AND the letter from Crosswalk.com from your website. Replace the picture above, or add on a picture above, with a picture of a crosswalk. This way, the crosswalk.com people cant say you are using their trademark, since you are talking about pedestrian crosswalks. Just get rid of the crosswalk.com remarks, ALL Of them on your website, and YOU SHOULD BE FINE. If the crosswalk.com people email you, tell them you intend the meaning to be a pedestrian crosswalk. |
